TMV World Legacy Member devaitis Posted July 5, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Posted July 5, 2011 Hi Classic and cool song lately covered by James Durbin. Im think I did some progress and getting close to my best. But maybe Im wrong. I did some comparison. First MaCartney is singing "Maybe I'm a man and maybe I'm a lonely man in the middle of something" next James Durbin, then me. Im not sure if im singing in correct key and right words. But im about quality of my passagio. What do you think? Advice and hard critique please. EDIT: New recording to review. My singing -----> http://soundcloud.com/richardstomach
TMV World Legacy Member analog Posted July 5, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Posted July 5, 2011 devaitis, sounds good man! I still think you need a "splattier" or "twanged" or "wide" sound on some of your vowels. Specifically the "A"(as in man) in this song. To my ears, you are singing "UH" as in hungry and then trying to modify it towards the "A", when the vowel needs to be more pure(does that make sense?) In other words, don't try to cover or "modify" that sound. You can also back off the intensity a bit, but I imagine that slight "push" is because you don't the vowel dialed in. I recorded a quick take to demonstrate. http://www.box.net/shared/asos0rf24ifgdhoshf25 You have a killer voice, I think once your ear learns to pick up the subtle nuances in the vowel shadings, you will be able to nail this genre.
TMV World Legacy Member jonpall Posted July 5, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Posted July 5, 2011 devaitis, I'm really liking your tone lately. This might have been the best I've heard from you. Very cool, man! It had thickness, fullness, sharpness and coolness all bundled in one. (Sorry, I'm reading Steven Tyler's book and he kind of talks like that). But I really mean it. I must disagree slightly with analog here (that would be the first) about changing the vowels. I think they sound good as they are. I also liked the vowels from analog's clip, actually. But your next step would be to to pronounce each word correctly. F.ex. here you're saying "Baby I'm amay" instead of "Maybe I'm amazed". So it's more of a consonant problem than a vowel one, I think. Or that you think that learning the lyrics isn't that important Great stuff, dude! Golf clap...
TMV World Legacy Member Jugulator Posted July 5, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Posted July 5, 2011 Cool! I like your singing Why don't you post a cover here? http://www.youtube.com/user/IgorJugulatorZotov
TMV World Legacy Member Olem Posted July 5, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Posted July 5, 2011 Sounded great, Devaitis, the clarity in some of the words in your effort was a little off but nothing major. You have a great curbing/mixed voice. Keep up the good work.
TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted July 6, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Posted July 6, 2011 Excellent pitch and energy, devaitis. The only thing I could suggest is maybe to not lean on the consonants as hard. Make them a little softer. Not a criticism, just a stylistic suggestion.
TMV World Legacy Member devaitis Posted July 6, 2011 Author TMV World Legacy Member Posted July 6, 2011 Hi This is my new effort. Unfortunately low fi :/ Im sorry for that. Words are hard to recognize. "Shook me all night long" by amazing AC/DC I think that was interesting experiment. New topic isnt necessary then here we go: http://www.box.net/shared/qgnxehdu9gaoc384t784 I know my try doesnt sound professional, but i hope you like it. I did amazing progress because you guys. Thank you and thanks for your help. My singing -----> http://soundcloud.com/richardstomach

TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted July 7, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Posted July 7, 2011 I wasn't sure you could get that tone but you did. Good effort, Devaitis.
TMV World Legacy Member devaitis Posted November 20, 2011 Author TMV World Legacy Member Posted November 20, 2011 Let's focus on James Durbin vocal. here I put My new recording. I made comparison once again. First James then me. http://www.box.com/s/9k6hv0dx67m1h2bi7fms Look at this guys. The Only thing I did was copy his sound and his way of singing. I don't know how does it work but copying Durbins sound is pretty easy and natural for me. Of course James is singing this one more freely then me but I'm still working on this. Some progress has been made I hope. ===================================================== This post would be more appropriate in vox tech part of forum. However firstly I posted it here so I decided to carry it on. My singing -----> http://soundcloud.com/richardstomach
