loveadventurer
Hello, I am trying to sing The Gloaming by Radiohead. The problem I'm having is that if I sing it completely in middle range, the first word at the lowest pitch as in "genie" has almost no volume/intensity whatsoever, and if I try and say the pitch/word in chest, well obviously it isn't connected, although I can definitely do it slightly better than I recorded. Anyway, I am really interested in knowing what people think Thom is doing when he sings around this range, do you think it's just a matter of practicing connectivity? or learning how to mix? what do you suggest I do to achieve the answer? here is a good quality video of it being performed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJDF0H_IjU4 and here is me doing it both ways: http://www.box.net/shared/7b3lmzlagu581duk232d Thank You So Much! edit: Just realized my clip wasn't working, fixed. ronws
Open up your nose, literally. Either you are narrowing your nose with a facial position or it is stopped up. As for the yodeling break you have, you can erase that by approaching the song lighter. In fact, the singer in the original clip is almost into falsetto for a timbre. Also, use your abs to control how much air you are pressing. Essentially, slow your air down, just a little. On the other hand, you are in the right key and your pitch sounds good.
