hi folks,

here's another example of when you're having trouble grasping a concept or technique. i opened up a mixed voice master class program i had purchased several months ago from t.e.v., and i decided to run through the exercises last night. this time around i hear a simple little phrase that suddenly lit up a bulb for me..."the pharynx is the gateway or passageway to the head voice."

"the trick is to relax, visualize and "allow" the sound to travel from the mouth through the pharynx and up into the head cavities."

so i think to myself i'll visualize my sound traveling from my mouth up through the pharynx and up further to the head cavities whenever i siren.

then she said simply the "au" "ng" "oo" and "ee" help with this. next thing i know i'm sirening easier and more fluid than i ever have before.

just goes to show you, someone can tell it just a slight bit differently and the whole thing just falls right into place.

Hey, Bob, that's why I read so many books. Just hearing something a different way can make it click.

In one book, I click on the note residing behind the eyes. In another book, I click on the idea that the head voice controls should sublimate the chest voice controls. In another book, lift up - pull back says the same thing but in a mental image that, for some, such as me, represents the right "image" or pathway.

As I have said, (hammer in hand :D ) , singing is mental. Yes, we do the exercises and scales and breathing techniques. But what is driving that? The image of what we need to do.

What does her 'mixed' voice actually sound like? I was interested in buying that program but after hearing her singing high notes in either an operatic or falsetto type way on the songs she has on youtube, I did not get it.

that's one of the problems i had with her program. although it's good overall, she demonstates the exercises, but i'm a guy hearing a woman's voice doing those exercises, so it's hard to to compare her sound with mine and relate the two.

however, it was only $20 at the time, loaded with exercises and explanations, and it was worth every penny.
