VideoHere
hi folks, i always knew getting enough sleep was important, but to all those folks like me who don't get enough sleep, it can litterally make or break you. it can litterally be the difference between hitting a note or not, of sustaining a long note or not. don't ever underestimate it's major significance to your singing well. it's a lot more important that i ever realized. bob
D.Starr
Define adequate sleep though. I read that 8 hours or more sleep is way too much. More than 5 hours and it makes me uber lathargic and lazy. I have a weird sleep cycle. I MUST go to sleep between 1-3 and get up around 8-9, sometimes earlier or I'm a wreck the next day. I read also somewhere that it's better to take naps or shorts sleeps around 1-2 hours through out the day. I'll see if I can find some references. "Eight hours' sleep a night has long been touted as the ideal length of time to spend under the duvet but new research suggests it could shorten your life. A study that included more than a million participants found people who sleep eight hours or more died younger. Those who only managed four or less hours in the land of nod were similarly affected but six or seven hours a night was found to be conducive to a longer life." Some people naturally thrive on little sleep. And then, there are others who flourish after nine hours. "It's only when you go less than six and a half hours of sleep, we call you a short sleeper; more than 9.5 hours, we call you a long sleeper," Shives said. "We think there's something genetic." Think I'm that person who rarely needs a lot of sleep. To be honest though, I'm 20 now and in my teens I'd go to bed at 2am and wake up at 1-2pm the next day. Hell of a lot has changed. VideoHere
i guess you have to experiment to see what's the best amount of hours for you. but it's really important.
akarawd
Sleep is no1 along with water. If I get 8 hours of good sleep I feel great, if I get 12 I feel awesome. I can really feel my voice recovered the morning after.

Ronron
Yeah, sleep is so important. I couldn't say which is most, adequate hydration or sleep. I know I have to sleep 7h a night at least, 9h max. Less I can't focus, more I'm sleepy all day long. I sooo envy those who can sleep less :D
Keith
Is drinking bottled water with flavor stuff added, or vitamin water just as good as plain water? I really dislike plan water :(

I really dislike plan water i'd say stick with pure, room temperature water. you might have sugar, and bullshit additives and chemicals in those products. ronws
During the week, I average 5 hours of sleep. On the weekends, when I get to sleep all the way to 6 am, I probably get 6 or 7. Sometimes, a 30 minute "power nap" on the weekends. I have to get up at 4 am and leave the house by 5 to get to work by 6 and rarely get out of the office before 4 pm. Sometimes, later. And I am not a morning person. Me and coffee are good friends.
