This is still a rough mix but hope you dig how it is so far. I completely forgot to do the high scream at the intro! lol I'll add that on and then do a better mix. My voice it a bit too loud on this one.

Here it is and BIG thanks to Thanos for the backing tracks... https://files.me.com/muskysnax/n5cqii.mp3

UPDATE...Here's a more refined mix. https://files.me.com/muskysnax/jkvfrs.mp3

Yeah.. rough mix... LOL. you kill me! It WOULD be awesome with the initial scream.... But other than that it's friggin awesome!

UPDATE - I just tried to hit some of the notes in this song. All I have to do is drop the notes an octave or so! LOL

Thanks Keith! I'm ultra picky about my mixes and my voice is overpowering the rest of the mix so I'll do some more tweaking. What a brutal song vocally though. Halford truly IS the METAL GOD!!!

Something tells me that Ron will mention my having a similar voice to Mr. Halford. Not that I don't REALLY like hearing him tell me that! ;)

Yeah, he is impossible for me to cover, unless it's Metal Gods lol. And even then, my band transposed it to drop d flat. I have a hard time with old Dream Theater also. If nothing else, I'd like to be able to sing Learning to Live from start to finnish, hitting every note. I think I would then be complete lol

What can I say, Ro ---, I mean, Mike. I can't just say that you sound like because of the fact that you are both british. He is from a little town north of Staffordshire. Although, when he got back together with JP, he was living in Arizona and Glen Tipton was passing through and dropped by, and still friends, and, well, the return of the Metal God is history (and yes, my head is packed way too full of useless trivia. Only an odd one like me would know where Rob Halford was living.)

And I used to give you grief about why are you not out on tour and putting out albums. Lately, though, I have been reading about the music biz and I totally get that you are way less stressed and comfortable with your lure business. Guess what? The same acumen is the way of the future for music. Seriously, digital downloads are the way of the future. Granted, there are tons of people with myspace and facebook pages. And yes, there are online "music companies" that will "promote" you by getting you prominence in Google and other venues. Forget all that. You've got the chops to sell your stuff direct. And should. Then, you would have such a demand that you would have no choice but to go on tour.

And then, you better make a stop in Texas. If you don't, I will tell you Aggie jokes until you crack under the pressure.

Props, brother from the Great White North.

Heck, I would settle for you playing at either the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Ok or the Winstar in Thackerville, Ok, both of which are easier for me to get to than places in Dallas.

Edited to add: Please pardon my profanity. Sometimes, I get too excited.

That's an incredibly powerful head voice there Mike!

You sung "until" in the last verse with such ease it's incredible dude.... love how you introduced "cry" in "subjected - subjected"

And that unstrained rasp in the choruses is just what it called for, doesn't get better than that!!

Cheers man!

Thanos

PS. One thing I noticed is that in the the "stab- fall - punch - crawl" lines our tone kinda resembles - that sort of rattly sound.

One question about that type of voice, can you use it to sing entire melodies ? If yes , have you posted any clips on this forum ? I'd love to check that out.

Thanks for the comments Thanos. :)

As for that tone I used in the stabbing, crawling lines I don't know if I can can sing melodies or not. I've not tried but I'm pretty curious to see if I can do it! Thanks again for the use of your backing tracks Thanos.

Dude, "Dissident Agressor"? Very cool, very old school... love it. I'd love to get a bed for "Beyond The Realms of Death". so Thanos did this bed track for you? That's cool... did he charge you for it or how did that go down?

BTW it sounds really cool SNAX... very Halford'esque... great job!

Thanks Robert! Thaos was very kind enough to just email me the backing tracks for free as Keith has also done. I'm not positive but i think that Thanos had a buddy do the backing tracks for him.

You know, Mike, I can quit comparing you to Halford when you quit sounding similar to him. Of course, there are some very subtle differences, almost undetectable. But you have the same range, the same skills, and many times, the same sound. Gosh, what a burden.

Ain't that a (female unbred dog.)

Of all the people to happen to sound like I must say I couldn't be happier that it's Rob Halford!!! I don't sound as much like him as people give me credit for however, just in certain songs and tones. Rob has an unbelievably versatile voice and he explored it to it's very limits throughout his career with Judas Priest. I love his vocals on his solo album Resurrection too. Holy hell can that man make a song his bitch!!!

True, I have heard you sing other stuff where you didn't sound so much like Mr. Halford. But I think you do have a similar sound, even when you don't sound exactly like him.

It must be burdensome to be you. I have it easy. I don't sound like anyone you have ever heard of. Jury is out on whether that is good or bad.
