TMV World Legacy Member jonpall Posted December 7, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 7, 2011 Hi guys, This is me singing Michael Bolton's "How am I supposed to live without you", a capella on a mobile phone. Sorry about the poor quality but I was experimenting with "soul singing" and "soul rasp". Let me know what you think. If you dig it, I might do this song or some other "soul" song or a Foreigner song with a similar sound AND a good backing track with a real mic and Cubase. https://www.box.com/s/548vcpf7smdgq0ls84xe Cheers, jonpall. TMV World Legacy Member Jimmy Posted December 7, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 7, 2011 Sounded pretty damn good to me — you should definitely try it with a backing track.

TMV World Legacy Member gno Posted December 8, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 8, 2011 Very nice jonpall. Great connection with you breath support. And great style and rasp. Interesting approach with raising the pitch each time. My Music:http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=897808
TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted December 10, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 10, 2011 Even on a phone, it sounds as good as the original, to me. I agree with others. Record this for real.
TMV World Legacy Member jonpall Posted December 10, 2011 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 10, 2011 Thanks guys. I'm trying to set a very high standard for this and I know that I'm not there yet, since I can't duplicate this at will. I think that Sammy Hagar used a similar configuration as this. It's like a magic sweet spot that you have to always focus on if you want to control this style. I'm going to work more on it and perhaps record something with a backing track. TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted December 10, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 10, 2011 Now, that would be awesome and I never thought of the comparison, kudos to you, jonpall. Bolton by way of Hagar. That would work.
