jonpall
For you cvt-ers, I think this is mostly in edge and with distortion. Think of a loud, distorted male witch :)
jonpall
He has maybe the best cover of Welcome to the jungle I've ever heard and also Elvis Presley. This guy is just INSANELY good:

jonpall
Doing Steve Perry but with his rock tone: What I like about him is that his high notes have some MEAT to them. They are not as thin as, say Brian Johnson has been recently.
jonpall
He seems to be BEST at singing rock songs, but he does this well, too: *fixed link.
Daug Poland
I saw this guy a while ago. He is awesome. he sound pretty like mixture of AXL and Dan McCafferty (only more aggresive) on high notes, and on lows he is like Elvis/ Tom jones and Jack Black and Blaze Bayley and ...OMG!... I just realized i'm pretty retarded
VideoHere
jonpall, i had been saying this for a long time. the diaphragm drops and you dynamically oppose the return of the diaphragm while you compress the air inside the body (sometimes it can be very physically demanding) leaving the throat passive except for the musculature that will adjust the vocal folds. but it's very physical! more than people realize. like he said, if you don't reach a certain pressure, you simply can't generate the notes nor the effect. it's like a "pressurized suspension", and it isn't very easy at times. all of us here on this forum are capable of this. and there are some big voices, big dramatic voices, that really have to work hard to produce sounds like this. rofleren
What. The. (EDIT). The was amazing! I love that he has a very rich bassy sound when he's in that range as well! Subbing that guy for sure.

rofleren
rofleren, you could do this too. That's a cool compliment! Though he had some videos where he just nails C2. Wuuut.
Snejk
That range... Incredible... I can sing In The Ghetto pretty great but not with that boomy sound.. O_o I just wonder though since he seems to be a low baritone... Can he sing Rainbow In The Dark clean, without rasp, without head voice - Like Dio? That would be incredible if he could... KillerKu
I like this guy's clean voice, but his rasp lacks character to me. It sounds too much like other raspy singers, where if I heard him, I wouldn't be able to pick him out of the crowd. If he could work on blending the rasp and voice a bit more, into a unique kind of mix, I think he'd do well. I really understands what he means when he says he doesn't want to be defined by the Axl impression, cause it's too close. You might as well just listen to Axl, you know? rofleren
Wow, that was weird. I just listened to this guy's cover of Suspicious Mind, and then I heard Elvis sing it. I was very underwhelmed by Elvis after hearing this guy. And Elvis is good. This guy deserve more than 8k subscribers ;o
rofleren
I just tried to sing the "Are you still mine?" F#4 from Unchained Melody. Listen to my experience here, just recorded a few tries to get the note. Lots of voicecracking and too whiney highnote. www.rofleren.dk/music/areyoustillmine.mp3 I hear, a little constriction/distortion, bad support (might have something to do, that I'm not super energized right now, and I've been working out 9 times the last 17 days, starting from zero, and quit smoking 17 days ago aswell!), an annoying vowel on the "do", but that's fine, it's not a hard note. I tried to lower my larynx a little, press my tongue against the bottom teeth and tried to think about my support. I'm gonna get some sleep soon. Going to work out tomorrow aswell. jonpall
Very interesting. In that "What's with the Axl voice?" video, I think he's probably singing with 60-70% volume, meaning just slightly louder than medium. You can hear it because he talks in between the a capella phrases. He might be ABLE to sing it louder, though.
slstone
this guy needs to be on X Factor or American Idol. He's got some friggin chops. Thanks Jonpall for sharing with us.
