This is probably not the right section but it gets more traffic than just about any other section.

As many have no doubt noticed, the forum has received a facelight. So has the main site of profile pages, etc. There was a field that was called "my music" and you could link in a page to a sound file or upload one from your computer.

It's not there anymore but I have figured out a solution for those of us who just have sound files. I don't have a video camera or someone to shoot for me. So, I just make sound files.

Anyway, about halfway down the profile page will be a box marked "my text." In there, you can list song titles and your filesharing link to them. Recently, I have been moving my stuff to box dot com since dropbox has changed their system and I can't get to some of the links.

So, for example:

"Brandy"

(box dot com page link for the sound file copied and pasted here)

Hope this helps others who want to share their music and don't have videos with which to do so. The reason this was important to me is that if I wanted to share my music with someone without derailing a thread or wanted to share in an email with out listing every song, I could direct them to my profile page. It saved time and space, and still can.

Okay, Bob. I wasn't so much a question here as a solution for those of us who have sound files, rather than videos, to be able to present them in our profile pages.

I can understand that maybe going to this new format is probably more cost effective and may not provide the bandwidth that the old style had.

I have nothing but compliments for Robert for providing this forum and social network profile site, free of charge to us members. In addition, he lets everyone have their say and discuss others systems. Even you spend more time talking about Frisell than 4 Pillars and he is cool with that.

This forum and site is like no other and I am glad for it. Just wanted to share a tech tip I came upon to achieve something I wanted to do. Namely, link in my songs to my profile page, since I don't have videos. And really, my dog is prettier than I am, so any video would be of him with my music pasted in.

Hi guys... let me get you up to speed.

We are doing a MAJOR facelift of TMV... in fact, the whole thing is changing to "The Modern Vocalist World". This means we are making 1 global brand and design for all the TMV web sites and adding a new directory system, a new "TMV Store", a new "Critique My Singing" section and other exciting things. here is the new HUB/home page, still in BETA ... www.themodernvocalistworld.com . As you can see, everything will link from the HUB and will share a common nab. bar.

Red font is part of the global theme.

In regards to the change that Ron is referring to... I believe your talking about the audio player in the profile pages... inside the main social site at www.themodernvocalist.com , correct? If so, there has been no changes what so ever. only the skin/design, we have not dropped or modified any features. My profile page still has the media player... so its not clear to me what your talking about Ron? Please clarify...

Nope still missing the media player for stuff I recorded or sound files I wanted to link. There is a media player for the expert interviews and a scrollable list of this to listen to.

But the player for my stuff, long, long gone. Nothing but a distant, sweet memory. I wished I had time to say adios to that list. A tear in my eye in a painful red sunset. It's appearance has started to fade in my jaded memory, the outlines barely visible, any more. I miss the darling way the title would scroll across when you placed the cursor in the field.

Sniff, sniff....

I don't see the media player and I certainly don't see my list of sound files that I had uploaded before. Crushed, no doubt, under the wheels of progress.

Robert,

Ron is referring to the media player on each individuals' personal profile page which was located in the left hand pane. When I logged in early Friday, the player (and my songs) were there and a few hours later, it was gone. Ron and I had corresponded and I had checked his page as well as many other members, and no player. In fact, I had checked your page as well, and NO PLAYER..... ???

I assumed that : 1) It was perhaps an "overload" on the servers or 2) That the changes to the site were not yet completed.

Adolph

That is why, a while back, I posted links to my stuff on my profile page in the afore mentioned section. Saves aggravation in the long run. I have my tunes hosted on my own website which I maintain myself. I actually embedded a player, so you don't even have to leave TMV to listen, but it uses my bandwith for listening, not TMV's.

Or you can click one of the links in my signature here to listen. Either way, the source is still the same.

Hey guys, I accidentally pulled the media player in the profile pages out when I was working on the new design of the main site at www.themodernvocalist.com . I have brought it back in... please confirm that you now have your media players back? I think its fixed...

Thanks for your patience as we work through the development and design of the new forthcoming, "The Modern Vocalist World".com. Its going to be great... things are getting even more cool.

I confirm, also, that my music media player is back.

Thanks for rescuing it, Robert.

And this was already awesome. And will continue to be awesome-r.

There are some other forums and they are good people doing good things. And I think Modern Vocalist is the cadillac of forums. Nothing against the other sites but this place has everything. A forum where everyone can talk about every system.

And a social main site where you can really showcase yourself. With ways to customize the page, link it, synch it, everything. So, actually, there's no way to compare it to other sites.

And it doesn't cost us members anything and you shall always have my applause for that. Once again, my reason for this thread was not a complaint. Just working with what was available at the time.

Ya, Im really liking the new design of the forum. Looks cool... No, there is no other online vocal resource like TMV... no one can touch it in terms of services offered, educational content available, design, features and none biased representation. With the new TMV World coming online soon, it will really realize its full potential...
