jzhang172
I was talking to my vocal coach and she told me that singing on speech level is easy, singing softly is actually an advanced technique. Is this true? I always thought that singing in a softer voice was easier.
gno
It was difficult for me to learn for sure but I tend to be more of a belter. I've been working on it for over a year and have pretty much mastered it to the point of being able to messa di voce anywhere in my range. I couldn't do that before. srs7593
To sing in a soft voice minimizing wasted air, and maximizing resonance, is extremely physically demanding. Particularly around where bridging takes place. To do a lightly adducted and breathy head voice isn't too hard.
