Forever - Kamelot Cover

Throat still a little messed up from killing it at my last show, but I don't let that crap slow me down (lol) Anyway, this is the last of my Kamelot backing tracks, so I figured I'd just get it out ot the way. Some "pitchy" notes here and there, some higher notes still pretty weird. Anyway, critique away.

Thanks for listening peeps. I have been messing around with diaphragmatic vibrato .. Though, on the higher notes, it is coming from my throat.. Don't remember what that type is called. Is it bad?

All my vibrato is throat vibrato (except the high head voice vibrato which you probably heard as a last background shriek in my Still Loving You cover, that's diaphragm vibrato, but also only place in my register where I use it) "throat vibrato" is not bad at all, for me it simply means I'm tuning my folds very rapidly.. Just as I'd change interval for a melody, I just do it very fast :p

Well The only problem I had personally with your vibrato in this song was that it resonating at a very slow rate. Maybe for this particular song you could try straight tones and see how it sounds?

Well, I can't sing a straight tone. My vibrato is automatic. The only weird thing is depending on how low or high I am singing, it seems to come from different places .my low notes, I feel it in my lower belly.. My higher notes I feel it in my throat. I was told once that vibrato should be automatic..

Pretty good job man! What program did you use to record this? I only have a webcam and a built-in mic, and was wondering how you got the backing track and how you recorded over the track.

You're giving me an itch to try a Kamelot song, Roy Khan is one of my favorite singers:cool:

I use cakewalk sonar 8 pro, a studio vocal mic (at2020), a presinus audiobox, and I found the file on YouTube .

Thanks dude. Until I save up some dough, low quality recordings it is lol
