Auto-tune on a siren sample?

lol

Last reply you will ever get from me, this is ridiculous.

Pardon?

If your're implying there was auto-tune on the siren I can assure you there wasn't. I have never used auto-tune in any of my recordings.

Big difference between your speaking voice and singing voice. I expected to hear a speaking voice like Michael Jackson. That transition may sound quacky to you but it does not sound quacky to me. It sounds like you are singing with a head dominant mix right from the start.

I am not a teacher. That is my perception and I can definately be wrong. I am just learning this stuff.

Haha yeah a lot of people are amazed at how different my voice is to my speaking voice.

You don't think it sounds quacky? That's interesting. I literally just discovered this sound. I've heard myself do it a few times and stayed away from it because I believed it to sound wrong and always leaned back into falsetto.

The biggest challenge now is to blend my "Chest" to "Head" and strengthen areas. Making sure I can get into this configuration from low to high. I can instantly hit straight into it but blending while singing is still difficult. Plus like I say C4-F4 is still a little weak.

The first one yes. The second one no. I'm trying to find a way to get out of old habits etc and getting into always hitting this configuration to get up into my head voice.

I can consistently hit an a4 in the new config with no strain but still the cackle. Singing wise it's a little harder.

Especially blending the registers.

I discovered this area after talking to Daniel about just not being afraid to lean into my voice and sing louder. So I'm getting out the old ways of lightening too much and letting go and inevitably falling into falsetto.

Don't let this throw you. You seem to have the M.J. configuration pretty solid. Have you thought about tapping into the Lou Rawls area. Your speaking voice seems to be deep enough. Maybe if you exercise on both(not at the same time or on the same day) you will be able to put a little more weight the high end. I'm not saying you need more weight up there. It sounds pretty solid to me.

I can assure you there was no auto tune applied or any break in audio recording.

Really angry that would imply such a thing.

I don't see why I would cheat myself in the journey of a better voice by applying such a thing to an audio clip.

Stylistically I think I would apply auto-tune to a track to give it depth, texture, have fun and have that pop feel to it.

I can record another siren right now if you wish me to.

Here we go AGAIN. No auto-tune AGAIN. No chopping of the audio AGAIN.

D Take a listen to your Random.mp3 from the link that you provided. After the first line you sing Ohoh. Right in the middle of that you can hear a click or tonal shift. Also almost every time you sing "Take you down" in the middle of the word DOWN you can hear the same type of tonal shift. I am just pointing this out so you can see why Felipe believes that autotune is on. Autotune will give the same type of effect.

It was a crack in my voice. I always crack at that point. But I haven't used auto tone at all in any of recordings.

You also need to realise it was late at night and I hadnt warmed up so my voice cracked in places. I can re-record it if you want. But I stand by the statement I put about not using auto tone.

Does that beginning note feel easy to you? Your voice seems VERY pressed and you are not bridging, I can HEAR the pressure on your throat and not your lower support muscles. Try applying that "maaaay" twangy sound to your actual speaking voice so you dont have to JUMP at all and try going from the TOP down instead of up up up. Once you hit the notes you want you can sing it however you please. Wish I could help more!

Also if you want to check if you're overly pressing, that first "maay" can you sing it on a "haaay"? Good luck my friend and one last thing. We all know you can sing those notes, you have a great voice.. BUT do you OWN those notes?

I'm just letting you know why there would be some confusion. Anyway it sounds good to me.

Are you working your bottom end too? I have heard that it helps the transition if you work chest and head seperately for a while.

There is a lot of pressure but no strain. The pressure does feel bad and squeezed.

I find it hard to use my lower support muscles. I just naturally suspend my rib cage. Maybe this is an area I need to work on. I simply can't balloon my stomach no matter how much I try stood up. I can do it find laid down.

There is a lot of pressure and I'm not sure how to hold back the pressure.

As for the auto-tune business. I stand by saying that I didn't use it. If it sounds like I did it's either the way I sing or the fact I hadn't warmed up so some notes went flat or I cracked in places. I have a weird way of doing runs sometimes. Whatever. Say what you want.
