Hi guys,

Those of you into heavy metal, would you be so kind as to have a listen to these andlet me know what you think? These were taken at a festival we played at the other day, of which I sang :) I know on 'A lie...' there's a couple of dodgy notes at the end, but otherwise I'd love to hear some opinions, especially on the high notes (funny enough I'm somewhat of an 80's metal fan)

Cheers!

Dave

Thanks man

Funny enough we're recording this weekend so I should be able to get some album quality versions on here for perusal.

I keep working on being slightly cleaner on my high screams. Problem is if I try too hard I start to do a King Diamond style falsetto rather than screaming. Whilst that's good for....well singing King Diamond, its not really natural feeling to me.

I just saw an interview with King Diamond on "That Metal Show." He recently had open heart surgery and they had to put his chest back together with a metal rod. And he had to learn how to breathe, all over again. Essentially, during the surgery, they collapse the lungs to make way for a while. Anyway, he is back into the swing of things and Mercyful Fate is back on the road.

Yeah I'd read that myself. Don't get me wrong, I like King Diamond (apart from his live stuff - not heard post surgery but pre it was rare he could hit those notes). Regardless, that kind of falsetto is not necessarily the thing I'm looking to do.

I'm more of a screamer ;)

You have a lot of power in your vocal, nice clarity for such a small stage. can't really fault your performance, dance moves on the other hand haha /jk

Haha! Its a fair point - though mind you there's not much room on a stage like that ;) headbanging and windmilling is pretty much my repetoire - i suppose i'd do a bit more if we were on a bigger stage!

I think youre very good, those screams are top notch. But i think some things you need to work on is having diffrent intensity levels. Everytime you sing it feels like your on intensitylevel 10 out of 10 it's very good but the screams Will be more effective if you go alittle less intensive before à scream, it becomes alot more dramatic. Listen to jorn lande or daniel heiman on how they build up into the screams, sometimes super powernotes gets abit lost due to all the other power cheers :)

Its a fair point that i've been told before. would also help with the stamina of my voice for longer gigs as well. Have heard bits and pieces of Jorn but not Daniel Heiman (I think), will listen soon

Finished an EP this past weekend, will have to post a non-live version for you lot to ponder on!

he's not bad, if a bit...generic. Still, absolutely right on technique. I'll need to think more about dynamics in the music. The thing is the sort of music that it is more of less means me needing to be 'turned up to 11' the whole time.

Its not like I'm straining my voice or struggling but I can see how it would have an adverse affect on dynamics

yeah My advise is mainly just à small thing you can add to make your screams alot more impressive without actualy changing much. Your technique is solid and screams are great, as you Said à change of dynamics would make it better :)

But i know how it is when you have à bandgoing crazy and doing à harder style
