Pulling chest when my guitar is strapped on

Hi guys! Just a thought - I seem to be prone to pulling chest when I'm singing and playing my (electric) guitar at the same time (in my rock band). I have a hard time feeling if I'm supporting or not. I'm not sure if I'm doing that very well. Any tips for me?

I have no answer but would like to tag on a related question - would it be of any value (or hindrance) for guitarists/bassists to begin to wear their instruments while doing vocal exercises? I saw someone's post on the TMV website stating that Johnny Cash was so used to having one that he wore his guitar while recording vocals - even though he wasn't playing it.

Yeah, and Elvis had to dance, otherwise he couldn't sing :)

Keola, I'm going to practise singing songs, slowly, with a neutral larynx, with a mic, with a guitar strapped on, and playing it at the same time (slowly) :) If that's not close enough to the real thing, I just have to practise vocal exercises and slow singing live at the clubs, goddamit ;)

The problem is not really wearing a guitar while practicing.

I'm guitarist/singer too, and the problem is that when you're singing AND playing guitar at the same time you are not focused only on singing. You have to forget you're playing guitar to be concentrated on singing, that means you really have to master your guitar playing and make it totally independant of the singing part. It takes times and practice.

Hope it helps

Heres a related question I think?? Practice: sitting or standing? I've gotten so used to practicing in the car, I can really feel my back ribs expand when pressed into the car seat. Not as much when standing. Plus - please forgive, "pinching a quarter" is easier sitting....(blush) does anyone have an opinion? Thanks :)
