Blameitonthevodka
I noticed something weird when I sing, I find it easier to sing higher notes if my top lip is over my teeth, probably because it creates more space for the sound. The higher the note the higher up my lip goes. I also noticed that other singers do this too, but nobody really talks about it. Would have been helpful to sing higher if I had known about this before haha.
MDEW
Do you mean letting you top teeth show? If you do this is part of the bite that has been mentioned here before and in other methods.
Blameitonthevodka
Well not with low notes, my teeth don't show. Not just that, but the fact that the lip goes higher over the teeth as pitch increases. Maybe it has been mentioned here before but not that I have read, I kind of discovered it one day.I was having pitch problems before because I wasn't aligning my lip with the pitch, instead, I was lifting my lip up while singing all notes. MDEW
The lips play a part in formant tuning. Also other muscles of the mouth may become tight and add to the resonance.
