Head voice

Sooo...not really clear on what exactly is head voice or how to sing in it. I always figure if I sang higher notes, head voice would be a natural occurrance...is it even possible to sing high in chest voice? Completely confused, a brief synopsis of head voice would be much appreciated, thanks=)

The usage varies largely depending on the context and method. So it will be a mess if you just try to use the name considering that people are talking about the same thing.

The other common association is with M1 and M2 (chest and head), and then the "head" described in the link I sent must become something else, although its still closely related to M2 because of the pitch region! The name of this something also varies.
