TMV World Legacy Member Overdrive Posted June 8, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted June 8, 2013 Lately I've been trying to find ways to increase my support which I think is lacking. One thing I thought of is doing lip bubble sirens and trying to keep doing them for as long as possible until I am totally out of breath. Does this sound like a good exercise? What exercises do you do? Edit: Oh shoot, wrong forum sorry
TMV World Legacy Member Nicogratouille Posted June 8, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted June 8, 2013 Support is simply regulating airflow and lip rolls are good for that. Don't see the point in doing them on one breath for as long as possible. I believe that what you want to build is coordination, not muscle. Do them on descending major arpeggios: 8531. Airflow should be steady, sing it like one long phrase not 4 different tones. If you want you can repeat the arpeggio 3 times like this: 8531358531358531. Nick
TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted June 8, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted June 8, 2013 I would also not advise doing them until you run out of breath at the end. This will build a bad habit of straining unnecessarily. Whether it is warm-ups or singing, finish with the feeling like you could have repeated one more measure but don't have to do so.
