TMV World Legacy Member Enander Posted August 2, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 2, 2013 Timbre, dynamic and your own twists on the phrases (which show great musicality) are excellent, to say the least! Haha! I bet you're inspired by Ryan Adams, so I understand that it might be a conscious act (aesthetics), but some words/phrases strike me as a tiny bit too muffled/sloppy enunciated. It's a tough balancing act, and of course subjective, but that's the only "bad" thing I can write about! But all in all, extremely good! I've listened to it like 5 times, and that speaks for itself! :D
TMV World Legacy Member jonathangraham Posted August 2, 2013 Author TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 2, 2013 Thanks for taking the time Enander. Ive definatly got a bit of a lazy tongue and sometimes when concentrating on the soft palette i forget about other things. its definitely a balancing act for sure. :) Jonathan https://soundcloud.com/jonathan-graham1-0 http://www.youtube.com/user/JonathanGrahamTUF www.facebook.com/theunnamedfaces http://www.themodernvocalist.com/profile/JonathanGraham
TMV World Legacy Member MDEW Posted August 2, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 2, 2013 Sounded pretty good. I am not at all agaist taking a song and putting your interpretation to it. Most of the time artists are given a song from a writer, maybe a demo with just the words and melody, and they build it from there. Where would we be if Janice Joplin decided not to sing Bobby McGee because she couldn't sing it her way and we only had the original by Kris Kristopherson? Great job. And a very fitting interpretation of the song. "You need a strong foundation to reach the heights."

Probably why I noticed yours! I totally know the feeling! It feels like you, mentally, need to be at two places at once, so to speak.
TMV World Legacy Member Validar Posted August 2, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 2, 2013 I must say, this is brilliant. I love it when something seems like there's no way it would work, but then it actually does. Imagination and experimentation can go a long, long way, and this is proof. I've never been skydiving, but I've zoomed in on Google Earth really, really fast.
TMV World Legacy Member Gneetapp Posted August 2, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 2, 2013 Wow! Really cool interpretation! I think the only acoustic version of Iron Maiden I've ever heard was Wasting Love, but it still reminded me of the original. Your version, however, doesn't make me think of Iron Maiden at all. It could well be your own song. I also liked the tone you kept during the song. Very good job man!
TMV World Legacy Member jonathangraham Posted August 2, 2013 Author TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 2, 2013 MDEW, Validar, Gneetapp, thanks so much for the kind words. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it. TMV World Legacy Member Simon Magus Posted August 2, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 2, 2013 This is excellent. I love just the touch of distortion you throw in there without going overboard. Well done!
TMV World Legacy Member jonathangraham Posted August 3, 2013 Author TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 3, 2013 Thanks Simon, I wish I had a bit more control that part of my voice, but hopefully i'll get it in time. Jonathan https://soundcloud.com/jonathan-graham1-0 http://www.youtube.com/user/JonathanGrahamTUF www.facebook.com/theunnamedfaces http://www.themodernvocalist.com/profile/JonathanGraham
TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted August 3, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 3, 2013 Well done, Jon. Felt like what Chris Cornell would do with it. But then, you've had the Cornell sound, for a while. And way cool, here.
TMV World Legacy Member Olem Posted August 3, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 3, 2013 There is a hit warning here, i feel it is that good. I reckon and hope your video will reach a big audience. Excellent Jonathan!
Jens Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Very ´good and tasteful, you sound like a real artist
TMV World Legacy Member jonathangraham Posted August 3, 2013 Author TMV World Legacy Member Posted August 3, 2013 Thanks ron, Olem and Jens for listening and your comments. All of your praise seems a bit undeserved to me, i'm really pleased you enjoyed it. I'm doing a few songs at a local open mic tonight so i'll add this one to the list for sure and hope it goes down as well.
