TMV World Legacy Member napoleonboot Posted September 16, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted September 16, 2013 Ron always tells us how he records everything as if live without overdubs... that's not my way though... usually I overdub and retrack until it's just-so. So, for a change here's me singing and playing guitar at the same time, in a single take with no overdubs. It came out fairly well, although I'll be the first to admit this is in my comfort zone. As usual, constructive ciriticism or just "good job" is welcome. This is the first outing for an acoustic which I bought a few weeks back: a beat-up Simon and Patrick Dreadnought. I recorded it via the built-in pickup. I'm not happy with this recorded sound, but I've never recorded an acoustic before, so I consider it's not too bad for a first attempt. TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted September 17, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted September 17, 2013 Sounded good to me. I guess this was just a test, hence, the brevity. Anyway, I look forward to more.
TMV World Legacy Member napoleonboot Posted September 17, 2013 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted September 17, 2013 LOL! I am not used to singing and playing guitar at the same time, so I chose something short. The length of the song is pretty much the same as on the original record "Animals". TMV World Legacy Member MDEW Posted September 17, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted September 17, 2013 It's good to hear more people singing on the fly. Just pick up guitar or keyboard and sing. All of those little wobbles or voice cracks adds character in my opinion. Not that there were any here. You sounded awesome as usual George. Singing and playing is an artform to itself. Sometimes the lack of production adds something that loads of reverb and an orchestra can never achieve. I agree. Do "Wish You Were Here." That one's nearly as easy to play and sing as this was.
TMV World Legacy Member napoleonboot Posted September 20, 2013 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted September 20, 2013 I have been playing with a VST mastering plug-in "Endorphin" on-and-off since I discovered it a few days ago, and so I updated the mix on the above link.
