“I have been MIS-UN-DER-STOOD!”

Hahaa!! I love that song :)

Please, I'd love to help you with anything you'd like. Don't hesitate on sending me sounds, songs or whatever, I always have time to analyze and listen to interesting stuff. I know technically I am not as proficient, but I have an important artistic background and knowledge of interpretation, as I am a dancer.

I'd love to learn from you and I hope I can help you learn things too.

Indeed, ronws, and I think you kind of misunderstood my point. But anyway, hehe

Also, yes... we should always sing with our voice, becuase we are us and not others... and that is the line we have to find, that divides what we can do and what we can't. Which is simply, what feels right with your voice. Even if it is difficult, there are muscles that maybe haven't developed and in time you will adapt. Other things might require a bigger resonating space, for example, and as much as you train your shaping and manipulation... you cannot change the shape or size of your skull, your neck, etc.. And trying to do something that requires that may be harmful. Was I clear ? hahah I don't wanna be misunderstood again, lol.

Well, as close as we can come to an agreement, which I am willing to accept. I have surmised, and even blogged, in my redneck style, that we are always singing in our own voice because it is genetically our own, whether we make sounds that seem to sound like another singer, or not. And I do have some scientific understanding, as well.

If we were to reduce this to just the science of acoustics, which is a branch of physics that reaches has analogies in electronics, I will absolutely "win." But I am not about "winning."

But I am not a singing expert. And the closest I have come to musical training is when I took "music theory" in my senior year of high school. And that was a "blow-off" course because I already new about music theory. In fact, it was really an excuse for us mischievous guitar-playing freaks to get credit for noodling around on our guitars and other odd assortments of legerdemain. The teacher was the choir teacher and as long as we kept it down to a dull roar, we would work on our compositions and she would do her logistics for the choir thingy.

And, of the people here, Manny, you are more educated than most. But I do not know what "Music Science" is. Can you elaborate on that?

Anyway, more on the miscreants we were in music theory class. The year before, as juniors, we formed the "Music for Art Society." A bit pretentious and we even had a teacher as a sponsor but could not get our club picture in the year book. Senior year, as a group of devils, we had no sponsor and just showed up en masse for club picture day. Announced ourselves as the "Reggae Club" wit no sponsor. And none of us played reggae. So, in the picture, you see about 15 maniacal grins of getting away with "pulling one over on the powers that be."

I guess you had to be there.

Cool clip. There were moments where your highs sounded a bit like Labrie.

Remember Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon? He once said that the music DT did and more particular, John Petrucci's guitar playing was "stupid". DT continue to flourish, and are still alive for people to complain about.

Now, what was it that happened to Mr. Hoon? Who's stupid now?

Wow, I never knew that. What a crappy thing for him to say.

Mike Stone, who played guitar for Queensryche for a while, once tried pushing his unsolicited guitar tips on to John Petrucci, which led to John adding a line to Dream Theater's song "As I Am" aimed at Stone.

Hey, wait a minute. You're not related to Mike, are you? :P:lol:

I've never been skydiving, but I've zoomed in on Google Earth really, really fast.

If I was, I'd be Queensryche's new vocalist instead of Todd La Torre.

I think we should put together a band that consists of people who have bad blood with former band mates. Could be interesting:

Geoff Tate: Vocals

Mike Portnoy: Drums

Ynwgie Malmsteen: Guitar (Just for attitude and he really needs to pick a singer and stick with one)

Anyone else want to help with this fantasy band? lol

Side note: Remember earlier this year when Kamelot announced their new singer after an online audition search?

Tommy Karevik was chosen?

Unknown factoids about me:

1. I did audition for that spot using my youtube cover of Karma as well as an additional tune I've been working on. Haven't posted it here as I needed to finish a couple of guitar tracks on but the vocals all set. As soon as I have time I will finish it and post it here...

2. I had considered auditioning for Dragonforce. Actually started to film my audition. I may post my version of the audition song, 'Long Journey Home'. I wonder if anyone here would be interested in hearing that...

I forgot about him and the whole Metallica thing. Excellent addition to the band, lol.

Here's the funny thing, Validar. Scott and I do have an uncle (our father's brother) named Mike Stone. He was supposed to have lived near Tyler, Texas but I have not found him, yet. And he would be near 70, now, I think, anyway. So, as far as I know, we are not related to the Mike Stone you are talking about.

But, I liked the humorous notion.

Unrelated? I once dated a girl with the last name of Stone. She had a sister named Sharon who was an actress.

The father of my girlfriend was Joe. Actress Sharon Stones' father is Joseph. I do not think the two Sharons are the same person. Actress Sharon Stone has a Borther named Mike.

Actress Sharon was born in Pennsylvania. I met my ex girlfriend in Maryland close to the border of Pa. Could be the same Sharon.

Sorry to hijack Manolito, We sometimes get off track.

Wow. First time I've ever heard of Uncle Mike. That's news to me....

That was according to Dad's widow, the one and only time I got to speak with her. She was moving to Florida and did not give me a new number and that was a few years ago.

Needless to say, I have found no Mike Stone in Tyler, Texas.

That's ok. I have one better than that. I never knew Dad died until 3 years after the fact. Seems nobody told me when it happened...that was the one and only time I ever spoke with his widow as well.

And you gave me her number it was probably later than that when I got to talk to her. I have a feeling it was discomforting to her to talk to us.

I was going to say, call us Black Sheep but Lou Gramm already had that for band name, in the 70's.

:)
