Lavishous
Hey guys, I wanted some experienced opinions on this singer's voice. The band is Killswitch Engage (hardrock/metalcore) and the lead vocalist up until 2012 was Howard Jones, who seems to be a mid or high baritone but sings in a relatively high range, usually up to B4 or C5. I was wondering what you guys thought about his sung tone, which I've found to be especially rich and dark, and was hoping I could get some insight into how he's getting that deep tone while maintaining great upper range. I thought he was possibly using a low laryngeal position but I assumed that would make it difficult for him to access his higher notes. Here's an example, especially listen to the verses. Jens
I dont think he overthinks it, just goes for the sound he wants. If we are breaking it down I would say he uses a rather unordinary placement to darken the color abit.
