TMV World Legacy Member Jugulator Posted March 18, 2014 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 18, 2014 Hi guys/gals, Here I am, and it seems that this is my first attempt to cover Dio. So, please rate the cover Thank you. http://www.youtube.com/user/IgorJugulatorZotov
TMV World Legacy Member Herman The Red Posted March 18, 2014 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 18, 2014 That was great! Do you have any tips how to keep larynx neutral? I have been doing many excercises and still have a huge problem with that.
TMV World Legacy Member Jugulator Posted March 19, 2014 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 19, 2014 Thank you. Instead of thinking of the larynx position, I concentrate on holding the air "below" the clavicles. http://www.youtube.com/user/IgorJugulatorZotov
TMV World Legacy Member BetterThanFine Posted March 21, 2014 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 21, 2014 Gotta admit, I'm not a fan of the video itself -- the green screen effect is super distracting --, but you sing really well. I don't know how you get your voice to sound raspy like that, but it really suits this style of music. Nice range too.
TMV World Legacy Member Jugulator Posted March 21, 2014 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 21, 2014 Thanks. Yes, the green cloth recording is a problem. And I'm just a newbie in this area. As for the rasp... It is added to your clean voice above the vocal folds. http://www.youtube.com/user/IgorJugulatorZotov
TMV World Legacy Member Adoney Posted March 21, 2014 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 21, 2014 I like the video! I also like distracting and ridiculous green screens Nice cover man, but one critique would be to get that 'powah' Dio has on the original.. You gotta really put yourself into it, throw yourself at the listener, no reserve! ;)
TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted March 21, 2014 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 21, 2014 I'm not even catholic and I just canonized RJD. Saint Dio, patron saint of singers. Which would rub him the wrong way. He was raised catholic but not a fan of the church. Well done, Igor.

TMV World Legacy Member Jugulator Posted March 22, 2014 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 22, 2014 BTW, please rate my pronunciation in this cover on a 1 to 10 scale. Be rude and honest :) http://www.youtube.com/user/IgorJugulatorZotov
TMV World Legacy Member BetterThanFine Posted March 22, 2014 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 22, 2014 7/10.* Your accent is almost imperceptible, but it does come out on some words in particular. For example, when you say "blue," something sounds different. Here's a recording (). I exaggerated the way that I'm hearing you say it to show you what I mean, and then I put the way that I would say it afterward. I also hear it on "Between the velvet lies." "Between" sounds like "betwin." This also might just be something you can integrate into your style? To give an extreme example, Bjork has pretty much made a career out of sounding as "foreign" as possible and not trying to achieve the standardized English "musical accent." I'm not sure if that'll work for everyone, but it's a thought.
TMV World Legacy Member Jugulator Posted March 22, 2014 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 22, 2014 Thank you for help. 7/10 is really good for me, but I don't wanna stop. 9/10 will do :) http://www.youtube.com/user/IgorJugulatorZotov
TMV World Legacy Member basslord1124 Posted March 23, 2014 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 Very good dude, I was digging it. I haven't listened to a whole lot of Dio but I love that song. Good job!
TMV World Legacy Member Jugulator Posted March 23, 2014 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 Thank you. Yes, the song is cool. And there are many great covers of it. My fav one is by Killswitch engage. http://www.youtube.com/user/IgorJugulatorZotov
TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted March 23, 2014 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 Better made some good comments about accent and articulation. For 'between", don't worry so much about the 'w'. That's probably what made it become betwin. You could almost sing beteen and the listener's ears will superimpose the w for you.
