Manolito Mystiq
Hello. It’s been a while. This is me performing ‘Why God, Why?’ from Miss Saigon and ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ from the eponymous musical. ‘Why God, Why?’ ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ Comment and critique all you want. Singingnewbie
For the phantom. Very nice! The whistles at the end were unexpected and well executed. If i was to be nit-picky i'd say that the "aaah" at "the phaaaaantom of the...." where too bright for that song. I guess it was a choice and not incapability of darkening them, i just think it didnt suit that much.
Manolito Mystiq
Yes. I had trouble darkening my sound. I don’t really know why, because usually I can have this Wagnerian opera sound (okay, not like a true Wagnerian tenor, but closer than what I did here), without any problems. I think I was just a bit afraid that I would sound a bit flat on dark mode and, because of no amplification, lose my presence.
Jens
Very good! Your pitch is so much better! Whatever you did diffrent keep it! Also cool whistles! Very impressive you get so much volume up there
Manolito Mystiq
C6 is probably sort of my second passagio, because it's so hard to hit that note, while the Bb5 and especially the E6 are so easy!
Singingnewbie
Hm, i didnt know we have passagio up there, i was wandering why around D5 i have troubles but E5 and C5 are quite easier, so i guess thats my first top passagio or something like that? Sorry for going off topic it seems interesting!
Manolito Mystiq
That's why I said, 'sort of'. According to an EVT specialist, I zip my vocal folds from around that point. From around C6 I start sounding quite radically different.
