babystar
I'm suffering by nasality while I'm singing in mix voice, (Curbing). It's mostly from A4 and lower as I can't remove the nasal sound without gettin' constrictions or gettin' a too low larynx so it starts to sound classical. Even when I pinch my nose, I still can't remove my nasality so easy without gettin' a too low larynx. My voice doesn't sound TOO nasal, but I don't want any nasal resonating AT ALL! Or will there always be some nasal resonating while singing? I don't have ANY nasality in Neutral, Overdrive or Egde. Just in Curbing, or mix voice. Do I maybe sound nasal because of lack of support and lack of twang? I mostly sing Soul/R&B. I hope you can help me. Thanks / Claudia

If you have an issue curbing or mix with nasality, put some voiced consonants in your practice regimen, between the vowels. The soft palate goes up to make those. babystar
Steven Fraser, Thanks for your help! Claudia: Put up a recording, If you would. If you have an issue curbing or mix with nasality, put some voiced consonants in your practice regimen, between the vowels. The soft palate goes up to make those. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean, could you explain a bit more detalied? What actually worked now is that I really FORCED myself to sing through my mouth while I pinch my nose. I really heard it by many people so I'm gonna give it a 100% try! When I pinch, I force to twang my notes and I recorded my singing and I really hear now that I have an "comfortable listening" soundcolor. It's a bit too light and sharp but that I can work on i hope! It sounded much louder, so I still also hope I sang Curbing. If I pinch my nose while singing and learn to sing through the mouth for a while, will my muscle memories remember how to sing like that later when I don't pinch my nose? I try to be really concentrated when I do this exercise! And could it be that I sing with nasal resonance because of lack of support? I have one more question that I hope that you can answer. (Everyone can help). But somebody told me her vocal tract position before, but I remember it. Could you analyze her soundcolor? I'd love to get that kind of soundcolor. My soundcolor sounds like this when it's not nasal (oberve i pinch my nose and I'm singing with NO emotions) http://www.speedyshare.com/files/23546809/no_nasality.mp3 and here's Mariah Carey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD8eYO3uato&feature=related Or does she also use some nasal port opening? Sorry for so many questions. I hope you have time and can answer them. Thanks A LOT for your help! / CLaudia
