blackwhiskeyblaze
Hi, new to the site here and first wanted to say hello. I also thought this would be a great place to learn some tricks of the trade from others who've possibly "been there/done that". I wasn't sure if this was the right place for my question or not, so please forgive me if it's not. I've had a vocal problem for a while now and wasn't sure if it was common or just me. I'm a pretty clear singer only adding grit or stress where necessary... My problem is that when I reach for higher notes, notes which aren't out of my normal range, I can hit them right on without a problem, but as I tend to reach for those same notes, they get harder and harder fo me to reach, even in the midst of the same song, which is very frustrating. I have a song for example if anyone would like to check it out... you can get a pretty good idea of my singing style and that I'm not stressing my vocals in any way. My page is at www.myspace.com/songoflegend The song that gets me in the worst way would be te third one down entitled "Book of Song" On the rare occasion such as in this recoding, I actually made it through the song rather well, but it's definitey not an easy song for me. Sometimes I don't even make it to the third verse... especially when the song is later down the setlist. It just feels as though my throat tightens up and makes it very hard to reach. Only after taking a nice long break am I able to reach it again. Verse 1 @ 2:00, Verse 2 @ 3:20, and Verse 3 @ 6:31 I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a problem such as this, and how could something like this be overcome?
