Khassera
How does he do it? Any pointers? I'd love tips like - low larynx - falsettoish - so on and so forth Tips above are only examples, not related to the actual technique. I don't really know how to approach making that tone. When i try to imitate it I go for anbarry white-type of tone and end up drying and eventually hurting my pharynx (Though i stop before i ever do.)Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTdhXxxWREo EDIT: Hahaha, new phone, new typos. Sorry guys.

etekiller
This sounds like a recording trick rather than an actual technique. Two vocal tracks, one on top of the other, one of them is more chesty, one is more heady. You tear off all of the really high and low to lower-middle frequencies from the heady track and widen it in stereo by about 10-20%.
Khassera
I assure you it's not. In this case, sure, but he does do this weird distortion that sounds like a low larynx configuration. A sort of "goofy distortion," but I've always wanted to learn it, I think it's awesome. I've heard him live without any mixing and I've tried to imitate him but I can't really get it right. LaBrieCheese does it here briefly, right before the chorus (bridge?), in "crown of thorns at my side yeah yeah yeah:" >

It's a guest vocalist called Doug Pinnick. Just a needless FYI

SickXamedhi
From what I hear, it is not in a low larynx configuration. In fact, I have never heard Marco sing in a low larynx configuration, haha, his voice always sounds pretty... pulled together... solid, kind of "small", very metallic, and I picture it like a small throat space and very "hard" folds and by no means with a low larynx. I may be totally wrong, haha, but that's what comes as an image as I hear him. That distorsion he does is pretty similar to what Tony Kakko does, or did, I don't listen to them anymore. Listen to songs like 8th Commandment, or Black Swan, Wolf and Raven, and you will hear also that his tone is not produced by a low larynx, in fact their configurations are pretty tight and twanged, sound like mid to high larynx stuff. Maybe there are similarities in the way they produce it that makes them sound similar
