So i am known across the land for making wierd sounds xD but one in particular got my interest.

It doesent feel like falsetto. Its actually not breathy at all and can be sustained for a loooong time. I ussually do it to imitate Rob Halford's high notes :P

im just wondering what is that. Any help is appreciated :)

Edit: its completely dissconected and i need to apply vocal fry at around B4 to a falssetto to produce it..

see you change the vowel from ee to ah and you get different closure on the cords and resonance shift. the energy going back to the vocal cords has changed giving you more of a witches cackle.

Hehe..thanks for the info..

But is there anything else to this sound...can it be used for anything else than effect..or the general configuration. Can it be turned into something. it feels adducted and thats why i ask..cuz its not breathy

Sounds funny but cool, hahahaha. I'm digging it. I'm not sure I've done this one yet, whatever it is, this sound is on my 'to do' list.

And I turn my head and stare into the..... ahhhhhhhhh eeyes of the stranger yeah! :D

It sounds cool. Can you siren from a lower note around B3 on up to that note without breaking, flipping or cracking?

Nah..when trying to siren up to it it has an evident crack..its actually A fry sound..it doesent flip but there is fry between the voices..

@Killer yea haha...i freaking love that song...walk in the shadows and eyes of the stranger are my 2 top Queensryche songs

i was listening to Rage for Order and along with it Walk in the Shadows, pretty recently. Was really surprised how good it was. Less overplayed than Mindcrime. It's probably my current favorite Queensryche album. Dunno about the 'best' but most refreshing.

Good luck with singing Tate for real though. I take the occassional stab at it, but it's really outside my comfort zone as a singer. My most recent jab was in the middle of this:

I actually think your funny sound is cooler than whatever I was trying to do there. :D  So next time I might try this 'ah' thing that Daniel was alluding to.

we can just do it like that.

Tbh if i focused really hard and did some mixing magic that sound might even come in handy for some decieving the audience xD

But lets just train for a year or two now that i have pillars and lets see if those D5 can sound full :)

The "weird" sound is cool. Let's call it goosenfrabe, because I like that word and what I like is most important.

I liked it. And I like what you did, which is what I will do, which is vocalize, even high, and articulate something, anything, just to get used to doing that at high pitches. It helps you to train vowels as formants, I think. Basically, once you find one of those pockets of effortless sound, see what you can do to keep it while articulating words.

And yeah, you could probably cover some QR stuff when you want to. About a year or so ago, we had a Queensryche tribute thread and people put up their covers. I had posted my covers of "I Don't Believe in Love" and "Silent Lucidity." That was fun. We might have to do that again.

The title of this thread perfectly describes my career in singing thus far.

I actually giggled out loud xD

Well i guess people who like singers that sing high tend to want those notes imidiatelly and i am one of them.. thats why i have those wierd excursions Up higher..

To be honest even with tons of examples i still have trouble believing ill ever be able to sing high and songs like eyes of the stranger.

I mean you have Jens here on forums but still thwre is some dose of uncertainity

I have found that you cannot find those cool sounds without exploring the wierd ones. Even the wierd ones may be useful after a while.

Hell yeah. I didn't learn a lot of things through actual 'singing.' A lot of it is being your own comedian. The cool thing is when you find a sound like that, even though it's new and weird, it's not like someone put a gun to your head and is like 'do it this way.'

You take can take or the leave the sounds and move on. If it is a sound that works for you, it can extend into your identity pretty naturally.
