I've been Practicing this song for a few days  Let me know what you think. Disregard the first few notes I was playing with rasp before and got carried away.

I was going to give this one a few days first....There are not too many people who can take that much MDEW at one time.

I did drop it one whole step to keep from breaking. That G4 is getting stronger but sometimes I have to sneak up on it a little.

Bob sings this in the key of B and the high note for him is A4.

Oh, well, in that case.....we all need to reassess our opinions :lol::lol:

You did good - and you'll just have to live with it!

  OK.  I will accept that for now. But next time, if I don't sing at least a G#4, you have to slap me down a few notches. :)

I liked it MDEW! Although it still needs some polishing, the song and your timbre are a good match ,and you sounded relaxed. I have to ask if the guitar chords were all right, because sometimes it sounded as if the chord need to be something else. It was just a sensation, I don't know the chord progression for this song. :P

I looked up the chords on the internet and what most people had written was wrong. My chords are wrong also   I had to use poetic license and create my own for the most part'

It is hard to transfer piano chords to one guitar.....My fingers do not stretch far enough to get a bass line in there.

I'm getting pretty used to your voice now. Still trying to remember and figure out who the guy I heard before that sounds like you is. It just goes to show, you think you're using your own voice, but there's always someone out there sounding a bit similar.

Some have said that I sound like the singer from the band "America". I posted "Sister Golden Hair" awhile ago.  I think you can still find it on my soundcloud page.

I always thought I sounded like the singer from "Pure Prairie League". The only song of theirs I know is "Amie". Thinking that I sound like him may be what was leading to my nasality.

Lately I have been emulating Waylon Jennings. I think it is helping me to stabilize my larynx. I am also playing with distortion....That is helping to cut out the high frequencies of my voice and balance things a little.

I have found that you, MDEW, sound a number of different singers, depending on the song. Times where. You sounded very much like the original on "Sister Goldenhair."

But you also sounded a lot like Phil Collins on your cover of "Against All Odds." You did well on "Mama, I'm Coming Home" by Ozzy Osbourne. Each of those guys finds a resonant pocket or pockets in his voice that may be different from the placements they use to speak.

It's hard for a lot of guys to realize and accept that you have to sing differently than you speak. Even though you have a great storyteller voice.

Yeah, It kind of gets confusin" when you sing songs from many different genres. People tell you to find your own voice but with my voice different styles of singing and different effects can make a huge difference. Vocal programs will talk about things like Edge, distortion, vibrato, placement, Support glottal compression. The way I get these things are more like finding another character who uses them.

Many of the songs I posted had issues because I used the voice that I thought was my natural voice, after hearing the comments and readjusting things to not use my voice I had better reviews. I am now learning to NOT use my own voice(The one I thought was natural) and FIND one that gives a better reflection of the song I am singing. OR use one that WORKED in the past.

I may try that Phil Collins song again now that I have been playing with distortion.

Yeah, I think everyone needs exploratory freedom. However you desire to sing, that should become your voice. I know this is the way everyone who's been successful has done it. Some people do succeed in sounding just like somebody else, but you can often tell those people apart, because everyone has their own tendencies.

For a long time, I hated my head voice. My chest voice thickened up after a while, but my head didn't, because I didn't use it enough. It's unaffected. I can do some things to manipulate it's natural sound, but the texture isn't naturally occurring. Now I realize that part of my voice seems to be what's making people say I sound a little like Neville. Just like I keep saying you sound like somebody I heard before. There's always somebody to link you to,

Well, If it is my voice that you are hearing ..... I feel sorry for you... If you are hearing Bob Seger or Kenny Rodgers then use it to your advantage somehow. ;)
