Country Vocal Techniques

I am curious about country vocal techniques and how they relate/differ to rock or pop techniques.   Am I wrong in assuming that country vocalists tend to push the sound through their noses more than others? When I try to get that nasal sound, I often find that I take away some support. 

Chris Young and Randy Travis seem to accomplish the nasality without sacrificing support or power.

It's all about the accent to be honest, I'm a bit of a country singer myself mostly due to the fact I was born and raised in south Mississippi.  If you want to sound like a country singer and you aren't from the south, start listening to your favorite country singers night and day until your voice starts to sub-consciously pick up these vocal habits.  Here are two of my favorites:
