I'm talking to the majority of singers not only you. Sorry got carried away here !! LOL
You would be so good at songs like You've got a friend and so many more songs ! Your tone is great! But for God sake LIVE YOUR SONG ! Chew those words, mean every word you sing and you will see a big difference when you play back. It will built your confidence and passion about singing.
Check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BePDQ5iFi88, check his face, his head tilting, his smile, his eyebrows, his body language giving emotion to the voice and to the story of the song.
listen to yourself while you sing .... make yourself feel as if you where in the story of the song

You have a nice tone, you just need some training with a good vocal coach.
For now you can try this:
Live every words of your song... get into the story... I don't feel any passion!
Study other singer's body faces mimics, how they put emotion into their voice and body
Lift your cheeks instead of opening your mouth jaw down
Relax your neck and sing with a piece of thread on your head down your chin, try to not move the thread. Your air is going out you mouth and throat instead of contracting your abdomen and push that air up your forehead cavities.
Yes we have 2 cavities behind the forehead skull that serves as our human speakers, if you push your air only as far as the nasal cavities you will sound nasal, sing as if you had to sing to someone on the second floor of a building.
Don't forget your abdomen has a diaphragm that can contract and push air up as if you are jumping up, have the impression that your sound is getting out of your head not your mouth. Try saying "get out" as if you where very mad and touch your stomach you will see the thread will not move ...this is where the singing voice is.
For more free tips you can visit my web site thesingingjudge.com I also explain my technique for free
Don't forget singing is a team work, music+body+mind+spirit+voice
Emotion 75% and 25% voice
Someone with great emotion will make it big, someone with only a great voice won't
Don't give up!
Why don't you try to write your own songs since you're a musician, it takes a few chords and a few lyrics and boom! You got your own song....

You have a nice tone to your voice
Please don't try to imitate a singer, put your own self in the song.
When you sing LOVING ME at the LOV don't put that jaw down instead bring the LOV sound to the forehead
You have to aim up with your sound
We have 2 cavities in the forehead behind the scull, they are our inner speakers
If you would aim your sound up there... you would sound right on pitch all the time

Hey Blues man
Good pitch, like the vibrato, tone of voice is fine but try this: Put a piece of thread on your head down your chin, try to sing without moving the thread.
You are wasting your air... it makes your tone louder and not refined and emotional.
When you go higher you're forcing to much air out your mouth by your throat...you have to push your air up to your forehead by contracting your abdomen a bit like when you say "get out" to someone you don't like. Put your hand on your stomach and say "get out".
Now you see that your voice is not in the throat but in the speakers of your forehead.
Yes we have 2 cavities in the back of our scull they play a great role in singing.
Aim your sound up, you will see how much more power without going loud you'll get

Wow! You got a great voice, pitch was perfect, tone is unique
My God you guys !!!!
Why are you still doing covers please write your own stuff ...
So many good singers on this site .... what a waste
Come on ! If you don't play an instrument get together with a musician and write songs!
A song needs a few chords and a good hook that's it!
Wow I really like your voice
Sorry ...I got carried away here a little bit

:) my dear friend, you might be a beginner but when you sing, you think about a million things but the one thing that is the most important .... the story of your song.
You might be passionate about singing but I don't feel your passion. Are you too self conscious maybe?
Stop thinking about what people might think about you ....start living your song, chew those words one by one, feel every words deep into you.
You have a nice tone of voice, you need some training to get confidence in your vocal abilities. Don't sing the songs in lower keys and when the chorus comes ...come on let it out!!!
You see... a song is like a mountain of intensity you have to create a build up with your song.
Not louder but more intense towards the chorus.

You are very good, your tone is unique, you just need more experience...
But you guys should write your own stuff....
The only advise I would give you as a singing coach is not to drop your jaw down, when you do, your sound is down and sounds a little sloppy. You should keep your sound where your inner speakers are; in your forehead cavities and lift the palate and uvula as if you are yawning to project more and effortlessly. And, you need to live your song and feel every word not only with your voice but your body. You have to be completely in the story to be believable so the audience can feel you.

Keep the good work and write songs!
