Hi Binny,
yes, I would have thought you were way younger! But no worries, it's like Basso Profundo said: there's a niche for every voice.
Don't try to sound different other than yourself. Don't change your voice, but change to songs that fit your voice!
I can't think of one in particular this moment, but what came to mind immediately was Minnie Ripperton, Kate Bush...
It's not that important, and I'm gonna quote Basso again: "but you do need to be confident in whatever your skill level is".
And don't start to sing voice you WANT to sing, start with songs you CAN sing.

Hi Brad,
I listened to your clip, and I do think you have potential! However, there's a lot of work to be done.
Find yourself a singing teacher. First things you should work on is pitch and timing. And a lot of practice of course. But don't worry... I started singing when I was 51, so you have all the time in the world :P

Hi Binny,
I listened to your song and the answer to your questions is yes and yes.
Yes, you can sing, and yes, you should pursue it.
Are you a good singer? Not by far.... You'll need lessons and a lot of determination, and it probably will take a few years. But if you are motivated and willing enough, I'm pretty sure you can become a good singer
May I ask how old you are?

Does it bother you not to be able to understand the lyrics?
When I was young I obviously listened to a lot of "English" music, without knowing what they were singing about.
And even now I sometimes don't understand all of the text, unless I read it from paper.
I feel that if I know the lyrics, it gives the song an extra dimension. Most of the times for te better, but sometimes it can even ruin a song for me if the lyrics are bad! Then I wished I hadn't read the lyrics..:)

There's more that binds us, than divides us.
Anyway, was there ever in history a song in another language than English in the charts in the US?

The world is becoming one big melting pot :D

I like the song better the way you play and sing it than the original.
Aaaww..thanx! That's because I think the original is indeed a real European song in the way it sounds and feels. It's hard to explain. There is a lot of music from America, which I wouldn't listen to and dismiss it as "too American".
On the other hand, I just love jazz music and the crooners, and it couldn't be more American than that! Weird, huh?
It would be a nice subject for a new thread: "difference between American, British and European songs" :)

Thanks for liking it. Here's the 80's original:
Come to think of it...it might have never been published in the US.
It was a great hit here in Europe though.

Who remembers and recognizes this song, and what do you think of my rendition?

I found this cool backing track on the net. It's Paul Anka's arrangement of Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel".
How do you think I'm doing?

I like it! I believe what you're singing and that's always the biggest comlpiment :)

I like the lazy layed back feel you gave to your interpretation. Interesting. I think if you tighten up the lines and notes a bit it will be very good. There was a little wobbling going on. Great song to listen to as well as sing.
Yeah..the wobbling..lemme see if I can do better next time. But you're right. Good listening! Thank you.
