Thanks  for the  advice. I am working on control and pitch atm. I know I have some issues with singing softly, I kind get a fear of people hearing me in my apartment complex and don't want to wake them, I tend to not sleep well sometimes so I sing and record all at night. I'm going to work with those scales, and I believe I have some good scale vids book marked.

I also did a sound card update and been fiddling with the settings. I been having issues with the pickup on my karaoke mic, making me sound even softer. I'm working on getting my snowball set up for better sound quality. Hoping to get some good practice in this weekend. And try to get off of rons five finger badie list  

Oh and I picked the song because I was singing to it in the car that day and just couldn't stop all night

Soooo I haven't been on here in over a year. I been so busy with work and school It downed a lot of my music time. After halting a lot of bad habits and bettering myself, I have started to practice again. Let me know what you think of my first rough recording.of the year! Now I know its probably not the best, especially I since I used my karaoke mic and not the condenser, I'm working on improving.  I'm just looking for some good old constructive criticism. 

So I finally got some free time to play with my new mic and recording stuffs.:cool:

I am working on Rolling stone gimme shelter and still trying to perfect it.

WOW, really nice song, really good vocals, I enjoyed.

Maybe so but I don't use a lot of tech terms thinking or talking about voice. I get way too much technical stuff at work and music is my escape, my antidote, the place where I am both ancient and new.

Well said there ron, I can agree with that. As dumb as karaoke might be, its my escape from school and work.

Hi, IronZeppelin, thanx for listening. I am not exactly sure what you mean by "the words that had to be carried seemed to be troubling you" - are you referring to the high pitched phrases "There walks a Lady we all know, who shines white light and wants to show"? Could you give an example of a phrase were i was way off pitch?

Ignore that statement by me, i originally listen to the song with my old crappy speakers and sometimes I get a weird humming noise and I though it was you. But the line I was referring to was "...Your stairway lies on the whispering wind?"

Pretty good, I enjoyed it, never heard a metal voice sing this before.

Some pitch issues, timing was a bit off during the ending when the song picked up, and the words that had to be carried seemed to be troubling you. These are all easy things you can fix with some practice of course.

Regardless, it was entertaining!:cool:

Thanks, I have been practicing whenever I get some good free time and I really do enjoy singing in front of people, and there was no beer. This was at my schools Starbucks/cafe. Its a place I like to relax and drink my daily gallon of coffee at! :cool:

After many hours of studying, the cafe across from my schools library had some karaoke going, so I popped in and made some recordings.

I also promised Ron that I would eventually record this song.

Once spring break comes about I should get some time for some better recording... sorry for the bad quality, used my ipod.

Awesome as always, that is the only song where I heard entire bars and clubs sing without remorse....including myself :P

Very nice, I enjoyed the song... seems like you where having a lot of fun, which is something I think some people forget to do when they sing.

Sounds awesome, i miss being in a band...need to rock out to some of those classic hits! I agree with Ron, I wanna hear some rehearsal recordings.

Ok, so you need to work hitting those notes. You where off with a lot of pitch issues for most of the song. Try to break the song apart and practicing it piece by piece. Keep practicing!

You are right sir, that is loud, but I enjoyed it. An off note here and there but otherwise pretty good. If I recommend anything, its to relax a bit more and try to work on working up to the note and not just jumping right on top, sort of speak.

I'm still not over how easily you guys can handle the ending of this song. I feel like I'm at the vocal olympics at that point.

I just bought a Blue Snow Ball condenser.. cost about 40$, but it was discounted. Its about 60-90 normally and works great and simple to use.

For recording, I found this little method easy and creates great recordings. Find a karaoke video on youtube with lyrics and all, use a online sound snatcher, sort of speak, and drop the sound file into audacity. Play the video and record at the same time, with a headset on so the mic doesn't pick up the music. Audacity is a free powerful audio editing tool, which is easy to use and I recommend.

As for the song, and I am no professional myself, but I agree with Keith. Good deep voice, but those high notes are off. Sounds like you are really straining to get up there. I honestly think you could sound great singing the original Guess Who version of American Woman.
