  1. Sorry dude, but you sang out of key 60% of the time. I truly believe the quality of your voice isn't bad, but you just have trouble singing the "right" notes. One thing I would do is work on training your ear, and match pitch on sustained notes. Honestly, some people just "know" how to match pitches and sing on key, because it sounds "right". I think this comes from being exposed to a lot of music at a young age.

But don't fret, try working with a partner that sings really well and has a good musical ear. He or she can sustain a note by singing, and you can attempt to try singing it with them. After that, ask them if you were matching the pitch or not :) This will help practice you "ear," allow you to know your voice better, and get you to develop a mental connection to sounds (being able to hear a pitch and exactly match it the first time).

  2. So on "Kings and Queens" you are straining and that is also were I have a problem with the pronunciation.

You are singing "We are the kIngs and QueIns". The "I" is killing you there a bit. It closes of the sound and gives you also that unhealthy distortion that comes from the throat. In the original Jared sings more of "We are the kAngs and QueAns". My advice is to listen to this part in the original and to exagerated this pronunciation becouse if you close the sound so hard it will damage your voice in the long run and fatigue it in the short run. Try to sing more on an really open "Ah".

I agree. In general when reaching a high note in your chest voice, "ee" or "i" sounds like in "king," have the chance of hurting your vocals. Hence why you see some untrained singers at baseball games strain the "free" part the US national anthem, because that "ee" sound closes the throat. For example, I always make sure to sing, "freh" or "fray" so it doesn't um, hurt. Great job with the song nonetheless :)
