  1. Hey man, I'm sure this has been said before but you really need to get a bit louder, it sounds like you're holding back. the volume should be the same as a clear calling voice (not shouting) like if you were calling to someone .... 'hey you over there' type thing. You need to work on your pitch too/ I would suggest going back to basics a little bit and work on simple vowel scales, work the main vowels Eh, EE, Ah, Oh, ooh and then apply this to your singing if you can. Try and keep your head still :D looking straight infront of you, not to the side or down. Hope this helps. You certainly are trying hard so keep up the good work

  2. I have to say this isn't my taste in music but I think it's fab and vocally you sound like you're doing great :). I'm not sure what sound you're going for but you nearly sound english/american in the samples. The consonant combination of TH sounds like it gives you a little problem if it's in the middle of a word (for example you said somessing instead of someTHing. Put i'm just nit picking and perhaps you want that sound? I'm just looking from an english perspective really.

It sound to me like in the high belts in the first song you could benefit from applying a little open throat technique.

Really great job, keep up the good work :)

  3. Your pitch isn't so good on this one, not BAD at all, just you were spot on the the above recording. Slightly flat in places, might be down to breath control, difficult to tell. I would say good volume and doesn't sound like your straining or pushing at all .... massive bonus :D have you got any of your opera stuff we can here. Perhaps you can lend some of the techniques used for opera into this song such as resonance and support?

  4. Your pitch isn't bad at all, I've heard so much worse :D So that's a great start! Don't be scared!

You could do all the breathing exercises in the world but with a breathy tone like this you'll still feel like you're running out of air because as Mdew mentioned the cords don't come together properly. An exercise i've found helpful for this is singing kah, kah, kah (on a 5 note scale or something, or just on one note to start with) then straight after sing 'ah ah ah' instead trying to make the 'ah' as bright and punchy as the kah and eliminating the breathy tone. Anything with glottal onsets is good for this (although don't do for too long as it's not really the ideal phonation for singing) it's just to build muscle memory and get your vocal cords to remember to come together when you sing or speak. Do you have a naturally breathy speaking voice too?

Breathy is nice in the right circumstances but in my opinion it's much better if you choose to sing in a breathy way for a song or a particular phrase but singers need to have other options and choices. Singing this way all the time will limit you, especially if you wanted to belt high notes at some point.

I'd be pleased with your pitch if i was you though and i'd work on refining your tone.

    Good luck :D

  5. Your voice has no power in this song, but to me the breathy tone suits the style really well and you wouldn't want any for this song in my opinion. If that's what your choosing to do then great. If breathy is all you can do and you're looking to find ways of improving then people here can help too (but I don't think that can be the case as you said you sing opera)

So I would say, great, for this style and song choice, you sang it great :D

  6. The recording isn't great so it's difficult to tell. Sounds like your power and breath isn't actually too bad. The pitches are mostly ok but you could definitely practice more on that. The beginnings of lots of the notes are a bit wobbly, then you find your feet so practice getting the note spot on in tune straight away. Your tone could be improved through resonance and just a better vocal technique in general. Good shot though, nice try and keep it up, you'll get there :D

  7. when i'm recording i much prefer to have one ear off and one on, that way you can hear your voice as you're used to hearing it.

Practice the breathing exercises and they will become second nature, you shouldn't have to think to hard about it while actually singing, your trying to build muscle memory and remember that the breath out is more important than the breath in really, you need to be able to control the breath out. Try not to think of taking IN too much air, you don't need it, instead concentrate on breathing in deep and low and controlling the breath out. Good luck:D

  8. Firstly, well done. I didn't hear your previous clips (at least i can't remember if i did!) Your pitch is mostly good, it's not spot on all the time but that's just minor adjustments that you can make as your singing generally improves. That's probably why your teacher says it's fine. It's definitely not the main area you need to work on, so that's great. Anyway, once your support improves your pitch will get better.

As for the autotune thing, It's often very subtle. I don't use it but I did a session a couple of months ago and the producer used auto tune on my voice as well as everyone else's on the album. It's a stylistic thing these days. It's the highly produced pop sound that is commercial at the moment, even if you are in tune. I was horrified when I heard it, I thought it sounded awful but when i played it to people without saying anything first, they couldn't even hear the autotune!? even my musician friends said it wasn't that bad! I think it was just strange hearing my voice with it. Anyway, not sure what my point is anymore but that is my autotune story!! :/

  9. well done, the pitch was mostly good. I would say have a work on your tone. Perhaps you could keep it more consistant. Parts are breathy, parts you lower your larynx to effect and it kind of jumps around a bit too much for my taste. I would prefer to hear something more consistant. One thing i noticed was a lot of movement with your head. It might be the camera angle but it seemed a lot of the time you were reaching your head up towards the ceiling, I would suggest keeping your head looking straight forward (chin parallel with the floor), you might find this has a direct improvement on your tone. Good luck and hope this helps :D

  10. Sounds like you're being to hard on yourself. Your pitch is mostly OK and your breath support is OK in your chest voice too. You can find falsetto too so that's a good start, your not straining those higher notes and trying to reach for them :D you just need to work on connecting your chest voice with a full toned head voice. Find some exercises for resonance and twang. Four pillars of singing will help you do this. Good luck and good job so far
