I googled for a singing forum and this is the first one that came up.
I would have purchased pay membership to post for advice but my card is literally maxed out until monday since i decided to stay in today to try my new equipment.
I started trying to sing a few months ago in the car to and from work. I have possibly the worst voice you have ever heard and also had the worst vocal range you can imagine, but shockingly (to me) after practicing for months in the car my vocal range started to improve.
I bought a microphone/recording equipment and trying it out for the first time today. I know nothing about singing and have a question:
Is it possible for me to not sound completely and utterly miserably painfully terrible, and if so what do I have to do??? Because I will do it if its possible.
I suspect that I have a naturally really bad sounding voice and that the key to fixing it might be that I'm supposed to adopt a particular , confident style and accent to sing with. At the moment I seem to be singing in whatever random accent that comes out of my mouth , from shit country american , mumbling Lifehouse style american, to british farmer accents.
Here are 3 clips of me that I just took this morning after several takes. The first is my "normal voice" I guess, the second is more stylised in a mumbling accent, the third is a british accent if I remember correctly (i am british). like i said i dont know how the hell i'm supposed to not sound completely painful trash but i think i'm supposed to adopt a strong accent or style and i might be able to not sound like an idiot?????
Thankyou for reading. Please any comment on me as a beginning singer would help........ I mean I sound worse than a 2 year old singing. What am I supposed to do? Or am i just blessed with a "non singing voice" as I suspect? Thanks.
*note i am 31 years old and sound like this . so this is the voice i have to work with. *
*clips* note they start after 10 sec or so / song intros
