TMV World Legacy Member Zac-kun Posted April 5, 2012 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted April 5, 2012 Hi, i'm currently practicing Curbing, i'm an Asian. English was not my main language, it might sounds weird to all of you. Sorry for that. i'm singing Just the way you are (half) by bruno mars. Hope you guys can help me on improving my singing. One of my friend told me, i was like shouting. Is there anyway to sing it softly? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B60371nYf4s&feature=youtu.be
TMV World Legacy Member Gina Ellen Vocalist Posted April 5, 2012 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted April 5, 2012 Hi Zac. When your friend says you are shouting, they are probably reffering to the chorus. It sounds like you are trying to pull your chest voice up too high which is causing strain on your neck and throat. Try to 'flip' over to your lighter falsetto voice. It will sound weak at first but you can find exercises to develop your head voice and the bridge between your head and chest voice. Try and find a vocal coach if you really want to impove. It will help you no end. Good luck The first thing I would work on is some breathing exercises and trying to breathe from your diaphragm Professional vocalist in Devon, England. TMV World Legacy Member Zac-kun Posted April 6, 2012 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted April 6, 2012 I really like that video, but you need to practice being on pitch. Thanks rofleren, do you have any good exercise that could help improve on the pitch?
TMV World Legacy Member rofleren Posted April 6, 2012 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted April 6, 2012 No, I'm afraid not. I've always been able to sing on pitch, that is my singers gift But just doing arpeggios and scales would help, I think. Hm, sometimes when I'm rarely not on pitch, it can sometimes be because my support was not good enough. Mabye that is the same for you?
