TMV World Legacy Member Slow Start Posted December 5, 2012 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 5, 2012 This was a spur of the moment cover, and I wish I knew my lyrics better and thought the arrangement through more. TMV World Legacy Member Slow Start Posted December 8, 2012 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 8, 2012 Strange... Soundcloud has been pretty user-friendly for a while. Perhaps because they recently updated their site to a more modern style, perhaps. Meanwhile, try this link... https://www.box.com/s/rke4zd54lkt7sltjgwhz UPDATE! TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted December 8, 2012 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 8, 2012 That one, I could hear. Even tone, volume and execution all the way through, with nigh unto perfect pitch. If you had any wobbles, I could not hear it. Technically perfect, as far as I can hear. Though I am not an expert. So, I have absolutely no technical advice or critique. I don't know the song, either, so I don't know if that is how it is sung, like a choir piece. I know from your introduction thread that you have been studying voice in college. It sounds like your teacher has taught you well. At least to my ears. TMV World Legacy Member Slow Start Posted December 14, 2012 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 14, 2012 Thank you very much, Ron! I really appreciate it. My cover of the song was a reimagination of the original song, which sounds like this. My previous teacher would probably tell me that his production is extremely unhealthy... thoughts? Seems like maybe it could be emulated (relatively safely) with a well practiced belt? I thought my own interpretation was a little more contemplative instead of fast-paced angsty. I recorded this in my lower range, which I am starting to gain much more confidence in. It's good to hear that others hear the similar things I hear on my recordings. Thanks for listening! UPDATE! TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted December 16, 2012 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted December 16, 2012 Seeing the live performance, it is a straight-ahead arrangement, kind of like a choir piece, though that singer is getting some grit in his high notes. Whereas, you sing those notes cleaner, Slow Start. I don't know if he is creating that grit or rasp on purpose or if he is straining. I think your version is healthier for the voice and I would stick with that. At least, for now. Let rasp or distortion be the last thing you learn or use, and only for spice, sparingly. You are singing more legit, he is singing more "rock." Either approach is valid, in my opinion.
