  1. this is exactly what i am looking to do, whenever i try to do that beginning "ahh look at all the lonely people" i either get really loud, or my voice breaks apart. I don't know what to do or how to practice getting the effect i'm after. I also did a cover of eleanor rigby but i did it much differently then the way you do it. basically using falsetto for all high parts. I'd appreciate if you'd listen guitartrek http://www.box.net/shared/dg1koumr6y
  2. http://www.box.net/shared/kg47f26tej static appears, not sure what caused it, sorry.
  3. i always liked this song http://www.box.net/shared/8nk4hm1ldo
  4. someone told me i need to add more chest presence to my voice, and work on breath support more. i tried to apply these concepts to a song. what do you think of this? is this better then the light way i used to sing before? http://www.box.net/shared/lqliaso929
  5. it sees to come off that way on the recording, but on the chorus i am actually singing pretty loud. i guess i sing softly because if i add more "chest" i start to think "oh no, i'm adding more weight, weight at the top is bad"
  6. decided to give this a try. i still seem to pull up chest, and crack on the high notes though. http://www.box.net/shared/9cllpr9ljm i want to be able to work up to this kind of vocal style, this is one of my ultimate goals, so i try to sing songs in a similar style. of course i'd never be able to sound like him, but i want that similar kind of power, and smoothness. One thing i like about his voice is how sometimes he starts quiet and then the note just blooms louder and louder.
  7. how would i go about getting a more volumized head tone on the high notes? right now when i try, my voice just starts cracking and falls apart.
  8. i mostly want to know how the high notes sound. is there too much of a contrast between the high notes and chest register? does it sound bad? http://www.box.net/shared/dg1koumr6y
  9. man if you guys think that song is low......then i have a long way to go. I'm starting to see that this forum is primarily a rock/metal vocal style?
  10. http://www.box.net/shared/hbgtxf847n i want to know if i am in my mixed voice or whatever they call it, or if i'm just pulling up chest. what should i work on?
  11. yeah it was all live, guitar and vocals. i'm still working on trying to get those high notes, i have trouble trying to apply the exercises i do, to actual songs.
  12. i'm no jason on vocals, and there is a clam toward the end on guitar, but i did my best. http://www.box.net/shared/u8zehbfedx
  13. people wanted to hear me with no original song in the background, so here we go. http://www.box.net/shared/q5gbr95f2p
  14. here is another update clip http://www.box.net/shared/9mp4vg81en
  15. ?any tips on my problems with getting louder?
  16. actually, yeah i do. i made one just now http://www.box.net/shared/lvx42h0p7h
  17. i'm not sure. basically what i'm doing right now is singing every song lightly. rock songs, pop songs, anything. that's just to help me connect. One of the problems i have though, is that when i play acoustic guitar and sing, no one can hear me unless i have a microphone. If try to sing louder, then i just go back to my old way of singing, and have a harder time controlling my voice. I'm hoping the volume thing will eventually sort itself out. Any tips or suggestions for this type of problem?
  18. here is the mp3 version http://www.box.net/shared/ags39mxm97
  19. i've been working at it for a few months. i used to be a belter, but i figured out that if i lighten up, and sing softly i can connect my voice better. i've been working on singing softly and slowly adding volume whenever i feel ready. how does this sound? http://www.box.net/shared/ags39mxm97
