  1. Here I am again with another cover. This one is a little different than what I've been doing. Different strumming vs country (bass/strum etc) I also ventured out into a different key and actually tried the original key that Dylan used. I'm still working on trying to stay with the flow of the melody. Anyway, I'm not sure what to make of it. Any objective ears and comments are greatly appreciated. Does it sound "musical" if that makes any sense?

  2. Still working on this singing thing. I think I'm improving somewhat but I really need objective ears. At times I think I sound "ok" and there are other spots that I know are off a little. I listen to a lot of Dylan....probably not the greatest voice but it works for him. With that said, maybe my style should be more of a storyteller and not so much a singer, if that makes any sense. Do you all think that is a style in itself...I mean speaking the words instead of singing....can a person "speak" on key? Please take a listen. Thanks in advance.

  3. Thanks to ronws and MDEW....I am brand new to this stuff and have tried to set realistic goals. I simply want to be able to contribute to our local jam sessions or campfires without people whispering "God, that guy is terrible and needs to shut up" kind of thing... If that makes sense. The coach tried to help with technique, breathing, enunciation which I know is important but I think my biggest problem has been simply not having the confidence and just putting it out there?! I think I'm starting to realize that while a lot of people may not have a great voice they sing with that "thing inside" and it makes all the difference in the way they view the song? I'll keep working and keep having fun...Thanks again and I'll be working on another soon. and yeah....living in Tennessee, I've been in a bar or two:cool:

  4. All,

Been working on this singing thing for a little while....sought out some tips from vocal coaches. That seems to help. I'm 50 years old and just now tried to start singing. Please give a listen....looking for honesty 'cause I'm thinking about trying an open mic night at some point and don't want to make a complete idiot of myself. I'm singing (attempting) in key of D. Am I on key? Bad, okay, or just plain ugly? All comments appreciated and welcomed. Thanks
