Toni Braxton's song "Unbreak my heart"

Thank you! And what about mistakes? -
Hi everyone! I love Toni Braxton's songs and I tried UNBREAK MY HEART. I don't take any vocal lessons and have never taken any in my life. One reason is - no teachers. But I dream to find one. I can't be a teacher to myself that's why I need your opinions. As this site is english I don't think it'd be right if I upload songs in my language. So I sang in english though I know it sounds more like any other unknown language than like english lol..... The recording is live. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-6-KKtqby0&feature=share&list=UU_sgBi9e-NZbiqF6cILvS5w

I try to sing....help!
Foreinger replied to Foreinger's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
Well, that's all very interesting. I'd assess my knowledge of english on a satisfactory mark that is not good and not very bad. Actually I'm able to understand both variants of spoken english:american and british. Though the british variant is more understandable for me. And I also easily differentiate standart british from standart american. I make grammar mistakes but I hope it doesn't prevent from understanding of the said meaning. The problem is when a person uses slang in his spoken speech. I don't always understand the meaning espesially for the first time I hear. Sometimes when I listen to the songs of some american singers I can't make anything out just some words. A good example of this is Toni Braxton. But when I heard her interview I was surprized how clear was her speech and every spoken word was recognized by my ears. I love english for its melodic intonation. It's smth like the english don't speak.....they sing. A very beautiful language for me, perhaps it's the most beautiful in the world. I read a little information here about ukrain. It's close to russian. I've never learned it but somehow understand when they speak it though I can't speak it at all. I also learned the german language. I hated it but I had to learn it together with english. It irritated me to tears. And I still can't make anything out in it if the speech is fluent. Many words are unknown to me. And the most problematic thing about german for me was its terrible grammar. I tried to understand it but couldn't. The thing is the german grammar has almost nothing common with the russian grammar. The english grammar has much more common with the russian grammar, strange but it's true!. The german word order is still smth allian to me. The teacher was constantly finding numerous mistakes. So I often got unsatisfactory grades. English word order interfered all the time and I could do nothing about that. I simply couldn't understand what was wrong with the word order. The teacher told I applied the english word order into the german language. I used only one article for all words and couldn't understand how it is so that inanimate objects have male and female sexes:o. What was even worse is that when on the lessons of oral speech I had to tell smth in german the teacher's ears were "bleeding" of what he heard. I replaced some german words with english and didn't even notice and of course the accent left much to be desired. That was funny for all of them. I hated german and always had fun making stupid mistakes and I never felt awkward. Thank God I'll never deal with this ugly language anymore..... I never feel awkward when I make stupid mistakes in english cause clever people understand that english is not my native language and never laugh at me.....;) -

Are you american or british? Your writing english is like it's your mother- tongue, no? It's like my dream to meet an american or a british who knows russian so it would be real fun how he/she teaches me to speak english and I teach him/her russian. -

Well, I like it! Very good! -
Your low notes are rich and they sound natural. To me the song is sung great! But there is one place in the song where tho voice seems about to break into falseto or smth a bit squeaky. I am sure you can easily correct that. On the whole the song is well done and I'd give an exellent mark for it. Sorry if I happen to repeat smb's words here I didn't read the posts....

Thank you all for your kind answers! I really appreciate them! Unfortunately I can't estimate correctly the meaning of the word and the sentence . The word has many meanings and which exactly meaning you apply I can't guess. And could you please say the quoted phrase in a different easier way for me to understand? -

I think that on the whole you sang this song very good and expressive! I am a beginner and I don't have the right to critisize a better performance than mine. -
Rolling in the deep acapella

I think the voice itself is very pleasant. Very difficult to explain details in a foreign language but why don' you want to sing with music? I don't know this song but the chorus tells me I heard this song somewhere a long time ago. Sj I can't say how good or bad on pitch you are....with music I'd much clearer to see....In general your tembre sounds good and your technique I can't judge coz I am a beginner myself. I'd say not bad. As I read you have a teacher then I'm 100% sure you will sound professional one day. -

O! hurrah!!!! Another post at last! Thank you! I try to learn without coaches by using the internet and advice of forum users.... Unfortunately my voice sometimes goes off pitch and this bothers me most. I prefer to make live recordings as they are honest and show true abilities of a singer. Very soon I record Toni Braxton's "Unbreak my heart", also live:) -

Why for fun? It sounds very good! Professional! -
Well, it's hard to tell anything when smth is sung akapella. Your singing is more like talking. I don't know what advice to give, i think the 1st thing you should do is to train your ear for music. It is early for you to sing akapella, but useful if you get some musical instrument and sing scales, some time later when you sing scales on tune you can sing along with a singer on CD or on smth. You will hear if you sing right or wrong and your trained ear will help you correct mistakes. Singing good akapella is professional level when a person trained his ears to a perfect pitch. Good luck!

It sounds very good! I liked it! I don't hear any mistakes to work on. Everything sounds to me as it must be! -
To tell the truth it sounds out of tune totally like I did 2 years ago. So I can say that if a person is tonedeaf it is possible to train ears so good that it will possible to sing on tune most of the time. Besides it's possible without teachers. In the Internet you can find a lot of useful video lessons on that case. Good luck!
