I guess maybe the better descripition would be they wear me out. This is prolly the Tobi Sammet song I can even remotely cover though, so here it is. I think you have a very similar tone to Sammet and you sing with a lot of emotion. As you stated, it's getting difficult when you are singing higher, but I'm sure you can figure it out just by working on keeping the edge to your tone, not letting too much air through your folds.
