Original song of mine before Vocal Training.

This is a track of mine, written about 2 years ago, before i'd had any lessons. I've now got Pillars and take Skype lessons with Rob, and have a bunch of new songs in the pipeline where the melody lines go much higher. Im hoping within the next few months, i'll be able to post some new songs demonstrating good progress with my voice.

So, until then, here's me! Any comments - positive or negative - would be be greatly welcome!

Cheers,

Ryan

I really liked that Ryan and I'd be very interested in hearing how you sound with the lessons. Very interesting and pleasing voice for me. :) I really like that coarseness or kind of gravely sound. I'm sure there will be those that can nit pick it. But I liked it a lot :)

If I had one thing to say as a critique it would be the word "curtain." You seem to be softening the "T" too much and saying "curdin"

Nice job Ryan

Very nice job indeed!

I'm not the most technically schooled singer so I will leave that to others and simply speak my mind about the song and singing. I think you already have a very good sound, your pronounciation and timbre when singing "find" is according to me superb! Really nice tone and a bit of rasp, however I will as I said leave to others to tell you if you are straining those parts in some unhealthy way or not.

Rant over, impressive song and singing! :)

Thanks for sharing this. I'd love to hear the exact same song today. This would be a beautiful compare and contrast.

Thanks for the positive comments, very kind of you guys to take a listen!

The recording, as i say, is a couple years old now and i've been doing pillars/lessons - admittedly a bit on and off - since about january time.

Nadine, i think if i sang this today it wouldn't be much different at all, as the top note is E4, which is basically my top chest note (depends in the vowel, how warmed up my voice is etc.. but generally it's either D#4 or E4). There's the odd note which isn't 100% on pitch and i'd probably add some harmonies here and there, but i'm not sure there'd be much difference on this particular song. Again, thanks for commenting. :)
