  1. I don't know how I missed this thread... It's a great song dudes, very emotional. And the vocals are simply stunning, probably the best I've heard of you Snax. The only thing I think doesn't work too well are your high vocals in the chorus - they are distorted (I don't mean the vocal distorion, rasp, or whatever). Could it be that you had too much gain on your mic for such intense screams? Anyway, I'm stunned!
  2. :D Fantastic Brian Johnson. Can't wait for the Halford version
  3. When it comes to high screams I prefer the raw, agressive style of the ones like Kai Hansen, Daniel Heiman, Eric Adams, Ripper or Gillan, so that would probably be the way to go for me:) The problem is that it's difficult for me to add twang without engaging some musles that are causing strain around my larynx and under my chin. I don't know how to isolate the right musles properly I think.
  4. Ronws, thanks for the reply, glad you liked the variations. About the tone brightening - do you think I should add more twang on the last scream section (the one beggining on A5), or also on the lower screams (those starting on F5)?
  5. Hey Snax, I Love your take on this song. In other thread you mentioned your different approach to adding grit when you sing halford oposing to ACDC. Would you please explain the difference? The halford grit is what interests me especially:)
  6. Hi! I thought I would share my effort on this very difficult (at least for me:) song. I always wanted to sing it, but I was never able to hit the highest notes in the scream section. I finally figured a way to do it, so here are my first A5's ever recorded I still don't think it's the proper way to sing them though. Please share your opinion and suggestions. Anyway, here it is: http://www.box.net/shared/ynovfehj3v Cheers!
  7. It's difficult to find any tips on singing from Bruce Dickinson that would reveal some secrets of his style. Luckily, there are some guys that have totaly nailed his vocals. One of them is Daniel Ivan Roque from a band Alchemist (Bruce Dickinson coverband) and Tailgunner. Check out his channel on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/DANIELIVANROQUE#p/u/13/iCvHl2Mu-AM That's what he wrote about getting that sound: In the beginning I was doing cover from Ozzy, but I was admiring very much the techniques of the master Dickinson. The secret is in the training without forcing very much so that it does not damage the vocal chords. Another thing is to listen, to listen and to listen very much the albums of the Dickinson and to be trying to imitate it without haste and great effort. Hope this helps. Cheers!
  8. Hey! It looks like a really big show. Could you write something more about it? How long did it take to organize the whole thing, how many people attended, how many songs and so on? Your guitar playing is awesome! I also organized a Ronnie James Dio tribute gig here in Poland. It took place last sunday. It was a charity thing, we've raised money for medical gear that is supposed to help fight cancer for a local child hospital. Just like you, Kalapoka, I was playing lead guitar in some songs, but I was also singing in one and doing both in another:) Here are some clips, my band Hateseed playing Heaven and Hell with Tomek Struszczyk - vocalist from a polish metal legend band Turbo: our friends from Darkmere playing Stargazer with Tomek Struszczyk again: Darkmere and me on vox playing Temple of the King: Hope it's okay that I wrote this in this thread!
  9. Allright, that wasn't the video i had on my mind (but it's helpfull too). I was thinking about Ricki Keith approach, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpGFE4CXUjA
  10. Ronws, thanks for the comment:) If I only knew what i did differently haha.
  11. Hey man! I'm so glad you liked my recording. The song itself, however, is not mine. All credit goes to my friends from a local band Sonheillon, I just re-recorded the vocals over the original instrumental track. You should definetly check these guys out: http://www.myspace.com/sonheillon Regretfully the band doesn't exist any more:( Sorry, but I don't have the unmixed version of Cathedral any more. But believe me, it wasn't done with ease:) I had a problem with my larynx going too high up on the ee vowel which made me choke on the sound, so I did a little research and I found a great free video lesson by Kevin Richards. I think it was this one (i can't check it right now, sorry): It helped me instantly. Hope it works for you too!
  12. Hey Dude, As some of the other guys mentioned, you have great potential. It's nice that you approach this song - it's damn hard to imitate Bruce in his prime. Keep it up!
  13. Thanks guys, glad you liked the high screams. I'll look after a teacher and work on my breathing for sure. That will be my next step:)
  14. Hi again! I did some recording today. It's a song from a local band from Gdynia (Poland) called Sonheillon (you can listen to them here: myspace.com/sonheillon ), they are known as "the polish Mercyful Fate", especially because their singer used to sing very much like King Diamond I got some backing tracks from them and went on with the recording. I was going for that King Diamond head voice type and some dark colour and distortion for the middle register. Here is the effect of my effort: http://www.box.net/shared/jc1cnudhq3 I'll be very greatful for every word of your critique! Rock on!
  15. Hi, I thought you guys could comment on my Judas Priest vocal cover, It's much more versatile than my previous upload, so you can surely tell me more about my lacks in technique:) I'm aware of the timing being wrong here and there, but I'm more concerned about the tone here. F.ex. I just can't get the 0:50 right no matter how i tried:/ I'm generally very curious of what I'm doing wrong with the screams. I really appreciate every word of your critique! http://www.box.net/shared/9oki3hdfjb If you're familiar with the CVT system, it'd be great if you told me what modes I am using in the 'normal' parts and on the high ones. Cheers! Edit: I've uploaded it again with some corrections i had made:)
  16. Hey Snax, I've listened to your songs with Osiris and then to the Tom Jones' stuff... THough I am definitely more into the classic heavy stuff and really like your screams, It's apparent that you've developed your vocals over the years. Do you have any more Osiris songs I could listen?
  17. Hey Snax! I really dig your vocals. I'm not into Tom Jones stuff, but your voice sounds big on this one... Would you upload or send me the Osiris songs that you've used for the youtube slideshow?
  18. Hi vamacoustics, thanks for the feedback. My native language is polish. Does it sound very funny? Yes, as you mention, the problem may be improper support. I took a couple of lessons this year at a music theater just to get the fundamentals down, looks like it's still not working... There are no rock vocal teachers here in northen Poland. Glad you liked the tune! And yes, i'd like to have a skype session with Jamie or Robert, just not right now... Cheers!
  19. Robert, Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I will apply it in the next song we're doing and try to make it a little more diverse:) As far as the technique is concerned: by saying that there is a lot of constriction in that sound, do you mean that the distortion is not produced in a proper way? It feels a bit uncomfortable at times, but I can't really tell if it's because of the way I produce it or is it just that I sing the whole song with that rasp and not giving enough rest to the chords...
  20. Hi Everyone, I'm new on this forum, glad to be here! Here You can listen to the latest recording of my band Hateseed, where i play guitar and also do the vocals: http://www.last.fm/music/HateSeed?setlang=en This is just about my first vocal work, so Your critique is more than welcome. It's very important for me to improve! Cheers!
