TMV World Legacy Member devaitis Posted March 1, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 1, 2011 Hi I love this man. His way of singing is my main inspiration. I dont have such a powerful and huge voice hes got. However its my try to sing that song. I took this song with the most natural sound i can give. No strength, no squeeze, no pain . Just me and my voice. And its the point to start. Please help me built interesting cover. I can sing high part more squeezed, more heady/cheasty, i can give a little bit emotions and twang. But i dont know what will be good. I want to sound like super-singer someday. So what do you think? What should i change? http://www.box.net/shared/9vu1q6xvo6 My singing -----> http://soundcloud.com/richardstomach
TMV World Legacy Member jonpall Posted March 1, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 1, 2011 You have lots of potential. Do you have any instructional videos or books that teach rasp? I suggest you work a bit on rasp and see how you like it. For a song like that, just a very slight rasp on notes here and there could really give it colour. At the moment I can suggest to keep a constant twang and let the rasp come from your emotions, your feelings. Most likely some form of intense feelings. This is just my opinion, though. Ronws in 5, 4, ... to tell you not to change a thing, lol. (Just messing with my buddy Ron )
TMV World Legacy Member devaitis Posted March 1, 2011 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 1, 2011 aaaa rasp, yeah, I had to look at my English dictionary. What about rasp, hehe, sometimes, hmm, always when I connect vocal cords a bit more then here there will be a little rasp. Since 2 month it is a rule, rasp became natural for me. But I will read about tech of course. This try is very shy, very light, especially for you to hear my natural voice without any extra things. Twang and rasp, Okey I got it. Whats more? TMV World Legacy Member jonpall Posted March 1, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 1, 2011 Personally, I think that's a great start. You're already doing almost everything correctly, so you're already ahead of many other singers. Oh, and improving your consonants and, to a lesser extent, your vowels. TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted March 2, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 2, 2011 Jonpall gives good advice on the accent. And God's honest truth, and you may hate me for it, and I'm a big guy and I can take, devaitis, I liked your version better than the original. So, sue me. I know you stated that you like Michael Bolton and hope that you can sound like him or sing like he does. And I wish you the best of hope for that. But I liked the way you did this song, just the way it is. Let the hating begin ...
TMV World Legacy Member devaitis Posted March 8, 2011 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 8, 2011 http://www.box.net/shared/sng23mz041 Here I hit the high parts harder, more squeezed, with more twang. Unfortunately it sounds more hmm... "hide" not "forward". What do i wrong? Jonpall, Ron and the others of course, what do you think? Sorry for English, but I focused on tech aspect. TMV World Legacy Member jonpall Posted March 8, 2011 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 8, 2011 You still need to fine tune your accent slightly but perhaps you should experiment with having a slightly stronger hold in curbing, I dunno. I liked it, actually. You're a good singer, man.
