  1. i love that tune as well g ....nicely done as always my freind. bob
  2. you're right about that. compression makes a huge difference.
  3. wow analog, serious vocals in full voice!!. it's interesting though, as i interpreted/perceived roxanne as a falsetto vocal. it prompted me to try some of it. i used windows sound recorder program and my trusty logitech $20 mic, i sang this 6 feet away in my store. i took a stab at the second verse accapella using falsetto and a little twang. http://www.box.net/shared/9qitl8yyxk
  4. freddie, juke box hero...nice! if you ever want to talk shop on how the hell to sing that..feel free to email me... it's a long-term goal of mine... videohere@earthlink.net
  5. hey all. i just wanted you all to know if you don't get any critique or comments from moi, it's not that i'm not willing to participate. i'd rather pass on this section of the forum, because i feel i'm really not qualified to judge. but believe me a lot of folks sound great!!
  6. whew!!! okay...michelle are we okay now?
  7. ron, relax! first off you're not a burden to anyone. your trivia section was a joy to read and you are a major contributor to the forum. (i mean after all....who the hell writes more than you!(lol)) but buddy, you have to realize, if a singer willingly asks to have his singing critiqued, then he or she has to willing to hear whatever is said. it's a choice, a choice that you made.....no one forced you to do this. me personally? i'm not inclined to do this unless i've really got it seriously right. just keep workiing hard and try to have fun too.
  8. waaaaaaaait a minute my friends !!!!! what i said about straining was an isolated statement not meant for anyone's particular vocals or comments....i was just being seriocomical in that i happen to like that sound in general. geno, i didn't mean at all to imply you were straining and michelle nooooo offence intended....no criticism either intended..that's not my style....... okey doke?
  9. you know sometimes as a vocalist i actually like a strained effect. even some of walsh's live "dusts" are a little strained...let's hear for straining!!! (lol!!!!!)
  10. you know sometimes as a vocalist i actually like a strained effect. even some of walsh's live "dusts" are a little strained...let's hear for straining!!! (lol!!!!!)
  11. nice job on he kansas!!!...not an easy one to stay free in the throat while doing.
  12. i recommend messa di voce to develop the ability transcend from a light head tone to a full voiced chestier tone.
  13. snejk, listen man, first analize your vocal requisites here...don't do anymore than you have to lol!!!. i first grabbed you a 1984 live version, and he dosen't appear to be singing it as high as you are. you've got a lot of a4#'s to deal with (his later years he's down to an a) but you've gotta get to them with top down head voice phonation and twang. lock down and keep an open throat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFu6VH2tYFA
  14. may i offer a suggestion, i get that sound this way: referring to "to win back your love again" be fully warmed up and a nice open throat maintain a stable larynx breath support and control is crutial for this song start with an operetic-sounding head tone, then gently spread your mouth out sideways and twang the notes while trying/visualizing your driving the sound up into your soft palate. and sing this: tau weeeen baaaaaak yaaaaaa laaaaaav ahgiiiin just trying to help.
  15. ron, walsh's stuff is harder than it seems...call that a work in progress...like my "hot blooded"...lol!! keep it coming!!
  16. It's a tough voice to emulate...one of my idols. the guys has got one sexy ass voice!! ever hear this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e62E565BHr4
  17. freddie, nice job overall on a bitch of a song in the original key...nice. i do it a half step down. i know how tough it is. (high tessitura.) lou gramm is like an idol to me. everytime i talk to other singers we all agree his stuff is probably the most difficult rock vocal singing to do...especially if you have any hopes of sounding like he did in good technique. it's almost like you have to violate technique to get that vocal sound. then to sing a set of his stuff boy oh boy (again for me) even when i search youtube, there are only a handful of guys covering his stuff compared to steve perry covers. i study his vocals because i feel like to sing his songs well is a serious challenge for me and i love a challenge. so please let me know when you ever want to analize lou gramm...okay? to me the sound that man gets and the power on the high notes truly amazes me.
  18. hey jonpall, i'm over here now...a reassuring note "pride" was mostly sung in a lower key whenever i've seen him.
  19. "faithfully" is a toughee if you intend to emulate perry.
