  1. There are some technical things here but I thought it was okay friend. You have a voice, keep singing and practising every day!
  2. I thought it was hilarious that you talk about not understanding modern technology and then post a large .wav file! Hahaha, no offense intended! I was struck immediately by how you can actually play the guitar, which is nice to hear since many "singers" can't. It's not so much about technicality, but rather a groove that a musician should easily recognise. As for the singing, I quite enjoy your voice. It sounds to me a lot like a lullaby that my uncle would sing to me, except my uncle can't sing and my age would make that quite odd. I like your tone, even your slightly wavering pitch was kind of endearing, almost as if was planned. I would love to hear you sing songs with a wider pitch range and with more tonal variety. Of course, you can't just start twanging and belting and screaming in a song like this, but I would like to hear you lean in more!
  3. I think there's some good technical stuff going on here, but you probably already realise that you can't really sing songs like this I think you should say this stuff is more like a technical exercise because there's no reason to sing a song like this in that part of your voice. It doesn't really make sense artistically, but that's just me!
  4. Nice tone and the vibrato is quite good. I quite enjoyed it. I honestly think you should just work on opening your mouth and using proper support. I kept thinking throughout this that I was waiting for you to open your mouth and start belting but it never happened, and I think that is a technical problem, not an artistic choice. Even though it is a sensitive song and it should not be over done. You can clearly go through your passagio and sing quite nicely throughout your low to medium-high range but we want to hear you and hear more of your voice!
  5. I think you have a very nice voice. Your tone is quite nice and you go through your passagio quite easily, but you can work on bringing a bit more intensity and power to your higher notes.
  6. Thom Yorke is an extremely unique singer and 99% of covers are really really terrible because the voice never matches with the musical style. I'm not saying yours is really so bad; I do think that your vocals are quite good, but they don't match with the feel of the music. You sing in a "mix" voice which has too much edge on it for my taste. If you listen to the original you can hear that Thom basically uses a very light head voice. When he opens up he is using more glottal compression and twang and all that good stuff, but it's still small and narrow. Of course, that's part of the magic of his voice and Radiohead, but I think it's important to keep in mind that when you cover a very unique vocal style, it is hard to do well. I love Radiohead and I can't pull off even a single of their songs. It sucks. I liked your other covers more :)
  7. Harsh as possible? No need for that Firstly, the recording quality isn't too good which doesn't help, but I think you have a lot of potential here but the main thing is the pitchiness, odd phrasing and tempo fluctuations. I feel like if you had a backing track or just a friend with a guitar then you would be 100x better. Can you hear that you change key between the verse and pre-chorus, and the pre-chorus and chorus? Once you're in each section it's mostly okay though. I hear some nice nasal resonance, vibrato and some volume swelling which is cool. I think for you, to work on leaning in and putting a little more intensity in would be the next step. Of course you never want to strain or push, but to bring more chestyness or thickness into that head voice would probably help with the intonation as well. Take care!
  8. Sounds pretty good man! I think for a song like this where the vocals don't go high or low and don't change tone colour much, where it's really about the story, you need to make it a more expressive. I think if you worked a little more on support and working on parts of tone colour like breathiness and resonance then you could make it more compelling to the listener. To try and take singing out of the speaking voice and into another world is the aim here I think. Great work!
  9. Holy shit man, this is taking me back to my childhood. I always love a good Maiden cover and this is VERY good! Your pronunciation and diction is fantastic; every word can easily be understood. The accent can be heard by a native English speaker, but most metal bands are not native English speakers anyway.
  10. I have to say, I quite enjoyed it mate. There was nothing crazy going on with the vocals, it was all with a very similar tone colour in the same sort of range, but I think that musically you achieved exactly what was appropriate. Sounds great!
  11. You have a very good voice, a lot of things are in place. I enjoyed the performance quite a lot. However I think you may be leaning too much towards a high-larynx Kermit the frog sort of sound. It is used in musical theatre, especially for vocal emphasis and effects (like the growl that you do a lot, which is great btw) and in modern pop music by singers like Rihanna and Britney, and of course Christina Aguilera -- but of course you know that since the "I" (_I_ gotta fly) at 0:58 is straight out of Christina's playbook and sounds fantastic just thrown in there. However it can definitely be abused. If it is used all the time it no longer sounds exciting. Sometimes less is more. I would say to experiment with a more open throat "yawn" sort of sound/feeling. It's good to find extremes so that you know where the middle is. Try experimenting with phrases and making them more dynamic in timbre. Keep singing! edit:typo
  12. Ed Sheeran's songs are deceptively hard to sing. You have to get that balance of soft carefreeness with that twangy distortion he pops out here and there when he leans in on certain phrases. I think you did a good job, just have to work on getting more intensity while still staying nice and free
  13. Technically it's amazing. At some points I was just amazed how clear and precise your tone was, and the little growly effects and dipthong twisty things were super awesome. I think the only thing I can critique is the pronunciation. I hate to be that guy because singing shouldn't matter where you come from... but if you're singing American pop music it unfortunately does. Hell I grew up speaking English but it's still hard to try and do a convincing cover of an American song, especially one that is so well known. Awaiting your next cover as usual EDIT: Oh and I wouldn't mention it unless it was literally the only thing left
  14. You have a great voice man, as you already know. It's a good cover but trying to do Grohl without hurting yourself isn't easy. His vocal folds are made of iron. Owen's advice is pretty much what I would have said, but articulated much better. You want to use some open vowels and get more naturally belty in the lower head voice, rather than strain and pull chest which is the temptation. Btw I loved your With or Without You Cover. You have a really great voice. In this cover you say "geehve, yoh and wehth" (not give, you and with). Those are great examples of what Owen is talking about. You just need those crazy distortions Grohl is doing that a lot of people try to so easily demonstrate but never do ;)
