G, you should definitely do that song. It is totally your style, the slow torch song. You certainly have the range and timbre. It will be legend - wait for it - ary.

Bravo, Bzean, bravo.

Well done. And congratulations for graduating. And, also, I wish you lots of fortune and success for your career.

And I am out because even though I did not say OMG, I am being quoted as saying such, only because I said not everyone programs drums. Because I realized, I dared to disagree with or counterpoint to someone else's review. So, evidently, it is not okay to disagree with a review. So, ignore my rules for review and come up with some.

ok, missed that.
And Nocturne is awesome.
And still digging Green Menalishi.

Hehe, thanx Ron. You are kind as always. I, myself, is not totally pleased with this cover, it is a damn hard song, the phrases sung goes so fast. I twist my toungue when i for example sing "the horse he sweats with fear...". Sometimes the phrases are stuck in my throat especially on the first verse i think.
The only thing I can offer for that is to not think of it as a phrase of text. Break it down to sounds. I mean, that's all it really is. But instead of worrying so much about the words and the order, how does it sound as da hahs ee s ehts ee f fee? At pitch, volume, and speed, no one is going to miss that w and right now, it will drag too much of your mouth forward and through everything out of alignment.

ez drummer is drag and drop though...there is NO actual "playing" involved. There are no pads to hit or whatever. The only skill might be picking the right patterns to go along with a song if u have already written the song. That and arranging etc. I mean, yeah, there is a certain amount of knowledge needed as far as drum conventions like how the drums might build from closed hi hat to open hi hat to ride etc
I sort of get around some of that by STARTING with the Ez drum patterns. I just program a logical pattern like intro/v/c/v/c/bridge/c out or whatever. I load that onto reaper and I start building a song.
Without EZ Drummer id probably be purely spinning my wheels (or spinning them even MORE than I am now lol)
And not everyone is going to have the same ease with this stuff that you do. And I know because I have dragged and dropped and it takes a while. That's why it is easier to play the casio because at least that is like drumming on a desk top with my fingers.
I guarantee if he had come up with even a basic 4 on the floor boom-chuck, others would have pooped on that for not being expressive enough.
Nor do people have to be multi-instrumentalists to be good musicians. There were and are other good musicians besides Prince in the world. Just to trust me on that, I have been around just a little longer.
Last, maybe he really did feel that this song is best without percussion. And now, all I see is talk about is how it needs percussion. I thought we were going to be supportive of songwriting. Or is this because not enough people give kudos to good songwriting, so it is easier to pick apart the one thing the song does not have?
For example, one favorite song of my wife and mine is "Leader of the Band" by Dan Fogelberg. Not a drum or anything but guitar in there. Even live, the rest of the band actually will leave the stage for a potty break while Dan would do that one.
I really do promise, it is okay to do an acoustical guitar song without drums on it, really and truly.

We need more vids in here, Robert. How are supposed to be happy with one song, no matter how well you did it?
Just messing with you, I know you are busy and when you get around to it, you will add more.

As for programming drums, it is one thing to have ez drummer or something like it, it is another thing to know how to use it well. If someone, like Killer, already actually knows how to play drums, then it is not so bad. But I would not expect a singer here just picking up the guitar to play as well or as easy as I do since I have played guitar since 1974.
I can play drums with my Casio LK-165 by hand, on the keys. And guess what? It sounds like someone who doesn't normally play drums is trying to play drums.

Could you give me a specific thing or concept to help develop the vowel articulation?
Listen to an opera singer and hear how they do ah, eh, oh, ee, and oo. Then, do that.

When I read the thing about songs for cities or states, I immediately thought of "Fool for the City" by Foghat.

I'm going to try applying your advice to a short excerpt from another song. Please tell me if this is what you meant! http://vocaroo.com/i/s0GMT3GWXWaL
It starts at 0:25 and 1:10-1:15 is very screechy on that high note I need to lighten up somehow
You are still speaking instead of singing. The p's are too hard. Consonants should be softer when singing.

I'm gonna try, what I think you mean is hold more breath back and use a more steady stream of air.
And think of the words as vowels to sing, not words to speak. Breath management is necessary, yes. But singing is different than speaking in use of vowels and articulation. Quit speaking and sing.

The only problem with singing or training for singing with a respiratory ailment is that it make effect the ease of inhalation and exhalation and play havoc with breath control. And you might get into some bad habits. Take some drugs, drink some water, like your doctor told you, and get well. Then, go full tilt boogie.
-
Quit speaking the words and sing them, You hung way to long on the r sound in "girl," for example. Listen to Brandon. He is not reciting, he is a musical instrument.
-
Reminded me a smidge of the vocal bridge in "Whole Lotta Love."
-
Get well. Whatever your doctor says, do that.

Rock on, brother from another mother.

I liked it, including the flag tribute, the way that Bruce runs around the stage with the Union Jack. Of course, I have always liked your IM covers. You could be in an IM tribute band and you kind of look like him with that ball cap on.

thanks, part of it was leaning towards a Roger Waters vocal sound
Klaus would be REALLY hard to duplicate lol
Perfect description. A Roger Waters sound, which worked for this version.

I liked it and I thought I would have a challenge hearing it because I am so used to Klaus' voice. But I like how your voice sounds on this.

So you're a Texan huh? We okies can always tell a Texan when they visit here. They'll say howdy in a friendly voice while driving on the wrong side of the road
In Texas, whatever side of the road I am on is the right side. And I do say "howdy," so you got me there.
One of my wife's favorite jokes. What do you cal six pall bearers in Oklahoma?
Carry Okie.
One of my favorite jokes, which is not a joke, really. Oklahoma has 3.2 beer. So, Okies have to cross into Texas to get 5.5 or better. It was all based on the idea that the native americans on the Choctaw and Chickasaw reservations need the government to control their drinking. Ah, the arrogance of government.

Most any video with a good quality soundtrack is lip-synched. it is the nature of the beast. And at least you have some brasilian heart and that's what counts.

That's a hard question for me to answer. I can't remember if I had soreness or muscle exhaustion learning a certain thing here or there. Which doesn't mean that it shouldn't cause soreness. Normal activity doing something you already know how to do can still make you sore.
And I am not a good judge of level of discomfort. I have a high tolerance for pain and through natural talent and training to ignore discomfort, weather conditions, eating things that would make a billy goat puke, something that might feel as a discomfort or soreness to someone else would go unnoticed by me.
This soreness, is it stopping you from speaking or is it making your voice hoarse? If not, then it is simply the muscles training to a new job. Or does it feel like an itch or tickle in the throat? Could be an opportune infection you are suffering just now and easy to mistake it as a sign of new training.
I personally don't know and can't answer but I would like to know what you learn about it.

Sounds like you are on the right track, good and solid. I could pay you the compliment others have paid me. You have an A4 that sounds free and easy, like you live there.
