  1. Haha! Scorpains!

Sure hope it was a pun. Otherwise I apologise for laughing :D

Anyway, I think you're too hard on yourself! I enjoyed it, and it's a great opportunity to get your thinner voice reinforced (I'm not too proficient in the proper terms, but I believe you understand what I'm getting at). And by the sound of it, you're not far away!

One thing though, what's the reason you pronounce "there" as "theya"?

  2. Open the link, but erase the "www.http.se//" in the URL :)

(It might not be ".se" though. It's probably because I'm a viking)

I liked it a lot! Your voice sounds very nice, and you're utilising it with great dynamics.

    To avoid just giving praise, because it's kind of boring, I'll say this;

    1. Don't forget the shorter notes. It's easy to focus on the longer "more important" notes, and leave the shorter ones a bit off pitch. A very common problem, but sadly tends to rip the magic from an otherwise great performance... as in this case!

    2. You need to adjust the distance between you and your mic as your vocal volume changes. I don't mean to be patronising; you probably know this already, but perhaps you'll be extra aware of it from now on :)

  3. Great! :D

Your pronunciation, which is a key factor here, is very good! You're outdoing me by a mile, so hats off!

Sounds like you're using 2 different "voices" (perhaps 3 with the ending). Am I right?

I've been trying the whole thing with a voice close to what you're using during the "he is the painkiller [...]", but it's a bitch to do the verses with it. Haha! It's too low for me. When transposing the whole song up a few steps, I find it to be easier.

I need to do this as well!; get with it! It's great fun when you get more than one singing the same song! :)

  4. Keith, I've listened to your singing many times now, and you're a great all-round singer! Must be very fun to have you in a band when you're that versatile.

If I'm going to give you some critique, it's this: it sounds to me like you're playing it safe all the time. If I'm wrong, disregard this paragraph, and I apologise for my misinterpretation! :)

Anyway, being sturdy and reliable is of course great (especially in a band environment), but sometimes metal urges... no, commands you to release the inner beast and manifest itself within your voice!

It might be hard to let go of one's inhibitions and hit the correct notes at first, but once you're past the threshold you're home.

I might be biased, seeing as I'm nothing but power... but I hope you understand what I'm getting at!

  5. Haha! That 's great! :D

I believe you're spot on with your assessment; incremental changes! It's a razor's egde you're treading.

I can't really come up with any tips you probably do not know already. However, it's important not to rest too long between each sessions. I've learned the hard way that you need to keep at it quite regularly. Otherwise, you'll end up losing some of your progression.

Also, I find it nice that you're trying to develop your own tone. Trying to sound like someone else might be a motivation, but it might also be the opposite and probably carry further risk of injury.

  6. Hi!

I really (!) like your androgynous timbre!

There are some pitch problems, which I assume you're already aware of, but your lack of proper english pronunciation is what really takes its toll on your performance.

Don't know anything about your background or your taste in music, but

is probably my favourite aria, which I believe would suit you very well if you transposed it down a notch.

If you're really into singing in english, you'd better practice your pronunciation. Practice one or two sentences at a time by comparing your voice to the original. It's grueling work (even more so if you're native tongue isn't part of the germanic language), but you'll get so much in return!

When you're pronouncing the words correctly it sounds great! Make good use of your potential! :)

    Good luck!
