  1. Hi! I'm always very critical of my own voice... Anyway, just recorded this and I'd like to know what you guys think! Does this sound good to you? Do you think there's a voice in there worth to be developed? Here's the link: https://www.box.com/s/ujhy18r6mdfnhb5dh2d2 Nick
  2. Like I said in the other thread, I would recommend you to stop worrying about high notes and head voice for a moment and get a good foundation you can build from. At this point you do not have enough control over your low and middle range. Once you have that you will have a much easier time hitting those high notes. Nick
  3. I have to say your high notes are absolutely horrible! Yes, they do sound a bit like Axl Rose but don't settle for this sound. It takes some practice but eventually you can learn to do much better than that. Nick
  4. Oh my god, I was expecting to hear a man's voice but you sound like a woman! Sorry if I am deviating from the subject of this thread but how is this possible? Do you talk like a woman as well? Or is it an artistic choice of yours? Nick
  5. I stand by what I said: His pitch will come nicely once he learns how to use his voice. Now I will make some tea  Nick
  6. Well, I hear a weak and under-suported voice. That's the problem in my opinion, pitch is just one of the symptoms. By addressing pitch you would end up causing more harm than good. Masterson, I suggest you find a good teacher to help you. I guarantee your voice will improve! Nick
  7. All right, he should be able to help you with that. Good luck! Nick
  8. What I mean is keep your own tone. Your 'Brian Johnson' tone is fabricated, it's kind of your shortcut for the high notes. Learn to sing those same notes in your own voice might be much harder, but it's so much more rewarding There's nothing wrong with your voice. The song is very challenging to sing. Have you considered voice lessons? Nick
  9. Hi Darkclaw, I like your tone on phrases like "Sneaking around your door", "telling me i gotta have" and most of the lower phrases... However, you go into Brian Johnson mode quite a bit! I can definitely hear you switch between those two voices. I assume that you feel more comfortable singing in your higher range in a Brian Johnson kind of way. Am I right? Now, if you could keep your voice "in line" throughout the song that would be cool! Anyway, hope it makes sense Nick
  10. I personally wouldn't recommend that. Focus on vocal technique, not pitch! Once you free up the voice it will be easy to sing in tune. Nick
  11. I have a friend who used to sing completely out of tune. This is what we did to solve it: - Vocal exercises, first on 3-tone scales (C D E) then on 5-tone scales (C D E F G). Once you free up the voice more I find pitch usually takes care of itself. Singing scales also gets you used to matching pitch. If you can't match pitch on a simple scale there is no way you can do it in a song. - Pick a song with a simple melody. Play the melody on the piano and sing at the same time. Do it phrase by phrase. - Ear training: Play a chord on piano/guitar, listen first and sing one note belonging to the chord. As a singer you need to sing 'inside' the chords. Melodies generally rely on chord tones. - Ear training: Play a simple melody on piano/guitar and sing it back. Hope this helps! Nick
  12. Hi MDEW, Sounds to me you are singing through your nose. Am I right? You can check by singing while plugging your nose and without. There shouldn't be any difference in tone quality between the two. Unless this is the sound you aim for of course... Nick
  13. Good song choice! I liked it What I could hear was some tension in your voice / undue heaviness. I think once you free your voice a bit more your pitch and agility will improve. Nick
  14. I really love this song! This is me practicing it today, one take, no backing... Any critique technical/artistic is most welcome! Sorry about the mic overloading a bit... Hope to do a proper recording of this soon with a backing track, some good equipment and a friend to mix it. So this is a taster https://www.box.com/s/0b61a4mph02nvntpilsp Cheers, Nick
  15. I like it too. Specially the beginning About the mix: sounds good to me, though I know nothing about sound engineering: I just use garageband presets... haha Nick
  16. nice one Knowing you are a soprano or alto won't make you sing better... Just sing! And if you want to get better, get some singing lessons and practice! Nick
  17. Hi KillerKu, I'm sorry to hear about your voice problem. Hope you get it sorted out :)
  18. Hi! Today I started working on this song and would appreciate some feedback https://www.box.com/s/v39tqbm4l23uim2ftqac It's acapella, by the way. Nick
  19. I've been taking voice lesson and I plan on doing that again pretty soon. Just don't have a lot of money right now What's a spastic throat problem? did you get that from singing incorrectly? can't you do anything about it?
  20. Thanks for listening! The nasality is something i'd like to get rid of. As I understand, it pops up mostly in my midrange on certain words like "around", "heart"... and I think it sounds horrible :(
