buzzardwhiskey
Here's my rather unpolished site: http://www.david-j-lane.com/ Feel free to comment on any or all three videos. Thank you!
ronws
I watched all three. I like the darkness of the first one. I like the tone of your voice on "Falling Up Blues." But my favorite is "Wild Flower." I don't care to analyze why that is. Sure, it's a fuller arrangement than the other two but that's not it. I am always a fool for melody and I do like some blues and I have covered a few blues songs and I am writing one about one of my favorite activities, smoking a brisket (someone needs to write about that, right? ) Anyway, I liked your stuff and your peforming style. You remind me of some of my friends and our experiences performing at parties and clubs. Keep doing what you are doing. Like Mark Baxter says, whatever "flavor" singer that you are, stick to that. Because your fans tell others and those others come along and like it and tell their friends. Always be true to your flavor.

analog
David, cool stuff man! I liked all of them, but would say Wildflower had the most impact on me. Very pretty arrangement and would be cool if you could post lyrics for your songs. I also checked out your youtube cover songs, and think you have a great song selection(I'm probably one of the few "folkies" on this forum )along with a great lyric quality to your voice. Have you covered any Steve Earl stuff before? I think it would be a great fit for your voice.
buzzardwhiskey
Thanks, analog! Steve Earl isn't on my radar at all, but I'll definitely look him up. I'm not sure how to post my originals but here are three... analog
These are great lyrics! Seriously. Falling Up/I Can Remember have a strong sense of place and nature and melancholia...what else do you need? Of course, you live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, so I imagine nature would infect anyone with a pulse. Do you plan on recording these in (home)studio setting? Really solid man. buzzardwhiskey
Thanks! This Sept I hope to team up with a professional violinist and record a couple. Here's another... Grow - David Lane Ugly are the men, who are the hateful tools of our government Aye and aye and aye Babylon lives and my brothers come to swallow any lie The marijuana Now is the time man, now we can decide that the herb is jah Free and blessed be I cannot avoid the truth, 70 years of war against a stupid plant... Ganja, ganja, hey <Chorus> Caffeine, nicotine, and the alcohol Each offer altered states of mind And dangers greater than the kind Enjoyed by folks who've not been... blind. We are connected, the music of love weaves its silky thread Aye and aye and aye We are made whole, and those in fear and pain can be set free The marijuana We owe our kids, man, our wrath and lies have sown mistrust Free and blessed be And they will come around, to a healthy view of this stupid plant Ganja, Ganja, hey <Chorus> Caffeine, nicotine, and the alcohol Each offer altered states of mind And dangers greater than the kind Enjoyed by folks who've not been... blind.
