I liked it. And knowing you have done a number of songs in the past with lots of grit, it was also nice to hear you singing clean. Good, either way.
Bravo, Viktor.
Thanks Ron, yeah it's good to try new things hah thats how you get better

Killer tone Jens. Not much else I can say about it(critique wise). Good to hear a full song from you on the forum.
I give it a Ten on the awesome scale.
Thanks man glad you liked it

Me tackling some progressive metal! Thanks to kristoffer for the amazing backtrack and guitar

I took a listen and honestly I did not like it.
In my opinion, you did not just change the song, it seems more you had a vague notion of how it went and then just did whatever in top of it. The two major problems are in regards to rhythm and the mix itself, vocals are dry on top of the track.
I don't know if you are not used to the style, but my suggestion would be, before changing the song, learning it. And if you want to make big changes, you have to make it your own (as in, you will learn the whole thing, drums, bass, guitars, keys, backing vocals, everything that is in there, you should be able to recall and know how it goes). Its a hell of a lot of work, in my opinion too much just to cover a song.
Now, in regards to comments made, in special by user KevinRichards, don't take it so seriously, the guy had a video a few years ago which I don't know if he took down from his acc (and should) where he was doing something like 90+ takes on his own song and it still sounded awful.
Even the demonstrations that you can find from him on youtube are full of tensions that totally messes up tonal quality, problems with melody and intonation, confusion in regards to falsetto and head voice, etc.
But do aim to set the bar higher, and be honest about what you can teach, if you don't control the quality you deliver, who will? Its way easier than having to defend yourself. If you need help with this style add me on skype, lets chat sometime.
hmm.

And evidently you have to be an expert to be a teacher and I don't know who is in charge of handing out the pin or badge that says expert.
Pssst Ronws, It's Rob who decides who get those pins(i thought you knew)
-
Yeah thats true Rob i agree with you, but im just hinting at we cant judge his coachingskill or teaching talent by just this track alone.
Being good at singing at teaching sure is connected but are also two seperate skills it's mostly that i wanna highlight. Even though the problem you and Kevin describes are real and exists I dont think this guys intention is to join you guys in the big clash of titans in vocalprograms
well just my two cents, btw the new mix on behind diverted eyes sounds killer
-
There's alot of error sure but havent we all done such? Is it fair to judge this hard on only this?
I dunno guys just my thoughts
-
There are some small spots that are just alittle bit off, but the entire thing sounds really really awesome! Didnt now girls could sing songs like this impressive
Great job Filippa

Weird it works for me, just try press play. I think youtube cut away an opening picture as i tilted my camera the wrong way
-
Here is what i am hearing, your voice is struggeling because there is to big diffrence between your open and closed sounds. More importantly the narrower vowels, and that entire line is just a pingpongmatch between open and closed vowels.
Buuuhht Laaahhiiiihhfs nAaat a Wheeeeel wiihth Chaaahhnge mAaaaiihhhd Ohhhf Steeeeeeeeel
try this, a simple "trick" i personaly use When singers and songwriters tends to gimme the short stick and throw in to many consonants

Well done man... Well done... ;)

Me and one of My students Oliver played around with this in our session, he has a really cool voice and is extremly talented so enjoy

I just think this is a weird question, singing/music is superfun If you dont like it then stop, but if your one of those who dream of becoming the next Justin Bieber and judge If you should go on or not... Well I just find that childish
Singing is a passion, IF you got that passion or not noone here but you can tell cheers
-
No problem man, I did very similar to your clip for a long time and this solved alot of issues so much easyer to both sing and stay on pitch when the closed vowels are similar to the open ones, get alot of success with this with My students aswell cheers
-
Hey man i heard it, your close but your vowelmods are abit all over the place wich throws it abit pitchy. Try this, im hearing that your closing down abit to much on the closed vowels specialy the ih/ee vowels.
-
Thanks for the kind words
Marcus i just wanna say Im so impressed you pulled this off, not only have you after tons of hardwork tamed distortion but also using it in verycool way in this crazy song.
Your stepping up and singing the way we always dreamed of when we where younger! Congrats ;)
-
Wow this is really good! Both the mix and the singing, love the distortion :)
-
Hum.. Ken is a High Baritone not a tenor.
You sounded really good on this tune
Do you mean the longhaired dude who speaks like Michael Jackson?
-
Your Talking this wrong it though the performance was good. All Im saying is songs that are written highup in girlskey have diffrent intervalls between the notes than if you would write a song for a male.
Then ronws came in and tired to add some gender issue, wich was. NOT what i meant. My point was basicly i think the buildups in songs like Falcon in the dive/ chess - anthem would make your voice even more impressive.
Cheers
-
I get your point ronws. But to me it's more about the key of the song, alot of the intensity is lost if you take the song down in key.
Thats Why i suggested songs that are written for the range he sings in.
Cheers
-
I also liked it alot, Why dont you try something thats not a girlsong? Like Falcon in the diive or something other like chess anthem? Those two would suit your voice i think
Good work
-
All depends on what you want, when you sing classical your using your falsetto/headvoice which is very hooty it's also very dominant in that clip. In rock singing your mainly using your speakingregister/chestvoice, it's pretty hard to change specialy if ur uses to classical.
Cheers

Jugulator I dont think the support is off he would be able to tackle this piece then. I just think it's about "owning" the song and for all to be second nature.
Well done on this! beastly song :)
-
Ok here's my opinion. Firstoff i think this is a bad songchoice for your voice mainly because it's a big beltingact for girls and the way you sing it is very heady/falsettoish with alot of Air leaking through.
It's not the song for that.
Second your technique seams like it needs a polish and your voice gettting more grounded and refined, as it is now your all over the place both pitchwise and it sounds like your voice doesnt Quite know where to go.
With that said your tons better than when i started out and you can certainly improve tons more, try out some of the great coaches here it has made my voice tons better.
I Personaly reccomend The one and Only Robert Lunte, Daniel formica and Felipe Carvalho aint to shabby either.
Anyways good luck :)

No you dony have a crappy voice, sounds good. But i would guess you should work abit on your confidence, why? cause there wioll always be people who dislike your voice regardless of how good you get! Heck i i sometimes get to hear i dont sound good and im bloody amazing so chill and have fun
